I was wondering if it will defeat the purpose since the recommendations is for every 1,800 sq ft.

Answer:
As long as you have roughly 4 sq/ft of soffit (intake) venting, you should be fine. As a matter of fact, a little extra CFM will definitely be beneficial.

Power adapter question

This question is from 20-Watt 1280 CFM Gray Solar Powered Attic Fan
Asked by

I have read many responses and understand that the fan is pre-programmed to turn on if the temperature is over 80°F and/or humidity is more than 60%. I want to confirm that the fact the fan is hardwired does not mean it is on all the time but is isgoverned by the thermostat and humidistat preset conditions. I believe my answer is "yes" but I want to be certain without having to climb a ladder to poke my head into the attic to observe fan blades for motion.

Also, I am highly satisfied with the product so far! Monumental difference in home livable space comfort. If it didn't take long for me to decide to get the adapter. The electrician just left, and I am enjoying a really comfortable house without available sunlight right now on a VERY humid evening. I am excited to see my energy bill after the first month of having this fan installed; already using the central air a whole lot less.

Answer:
So glad your Remington Solar fan is cooling your attic down (and your house!) as it should. The fan is designed to turn off, by itself, once the attic cools down. (Don't freak out if it kicks on temporarily in the winter. It means it's kicking the moisture out of your attic). Your job from now on is to enjoy your more comfortable home and forget about your fan. It will turn on or off as necessary.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BE COOL AS DISCRIBED EASY TO INSTALL DOES THE JOB WITH NO POWER August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase Ever. I Recommend this fan. Sweet Cooling for Texas My A/C company selected the product based on the CFM available for my home of 1700 sf. Even with a new unit American Standard he said this would help cool the attic. I had it installed and it started working right away. The summer in Texas is brutal. Temps are average 95-98 degrees in July. I really feel this is making a great impact. No electric wiring and a 20 year warranty. I'm sitting pretty knowing this little guy is up on the roof! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They asked that I submit a review. The installation was simple not because of the instructions but from a friend who has experience with installing this type of product. Installation manual needs more clarity and explanations of the installation process as well as diagrams as it is void of them. We just installed the fan so requesting a review of it's performance is a bit early in the process. The initial impression is good. It started up, runs quietly. Hopefully it will continue to do so. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solar attic vent I have used it only a short but it is helping and is moving a respectable amount of air. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! I bought two of these for my attic. Both run quietly and efficiently with no problems. Easy to install also. I'm hoping for a break in my electric bills in the South Texas heat. August 2, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Let down Shopped around for an attic fan for my garage. Here in Hawaii the garage got to be about 95 degrees during the day. I thought that this fan would work well because it was so large and powerful. The directions stated about an hour to install, took about 3 hours. The directions were a little confusing, should have had diagrams. Started turning immediately. Very loud, but it's in the garage so I guess it's OK. Runs even on cloudy days, BUT it's no cooler than it was before I installed it! I've had it about a month and I feel I wasted my money. May 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing product- Starting working immediately! Amazing product. Attic was typically 112*F to 120*F. Put two gable vents in last year but the passive venting didn't do much. Did a lot of research and then bought this Remington. I'm not a contractor but my neighbor and I installed it in 30 minutes (after watching the video on YouTube.) Checked the temp later in the day and it was 94*F! Fluctuates depending on the temperature outside (We live in south Florida). The fan came on as soon as we took the cover off and pointed it up to the sun! With temp outside at 92*F the attic was only 102*F! Major difference. Critics of attic fans worry about pulling the cool air from inside your house but if you have decent insulation and some gable/roof vents it will just pull the hot air out of your attic and lower the temperature 10-20*F Would have liked the solar fan to not cost $365 but I'm confident it will save me money every month, not to mention lengthen the life of my air conditioner and my shingles. Somewhat disappointed in Home Depot as they said they did not have anyone who could install it for me. Overall very satisfied with the product. Can't imagine having a home in the southern US without one! May 17, 2016
