Answer:
You shouldn't need any more flashing or screens of any kind. Just silicone sealant and roofing tools.

I have read many responses and understand that the fan is pre-programmed to turn on if the temperature is over 80°F and/or humidity is more than 60%. I want to confirm that the fact the fan is hardwired does not mean it is on all the time but is isgoverned by the thermostat and humidistat preset conditions. I believe my answer is "yes" but I want to be certain without having to climb a ladder to poke my head into the attic to observe fan blades for motion.

Also, I am highly satisfied with the product so far! Monumental difference in home livable space comfort. If it didn't take long for me to decide to get the adapter. The electrician just left, and I am enjoying a really comfortable house without available sunlight right now on a VERY humid evening. I am excited to see my energy bill after the first month of having this fan installed; already using the central air a whole lot less.

Answer:
So glad your Remington Solar fan is cooling your attic down (and your house!) as it should. The fan is designed to turn off, by itself, once the attic cools down. (Don't freak out if it kicks on temporarily in the winter. It means it's kicking the moisture out of your attic). Your job from now on is to enjoy your more comfortable home and forget about your fan. It will turn on or off as necessary.

Whole house fan issues?

This question is from 20-Watt 1280 CFM Gray Solar Powered Attic Fan

We use a 24" whole house fan early in the day and late in the evening to bring cool air into the house that exhausts into the attic. We have continuous soffit venting and three 8" roof vents for a house of 800 sqft. I would like to replace the three roof vents with a 20 watt solar vent. Is there a problem pushing air through the solar fan with the whole house fan?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Better than expected! Product works great. Reduced temp in upstairs rooms by more than 10 degrees. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cooler attic When I first saw this product on line I was skeptical of the price. It is a lot to pay for an attic fan but I ventured to still buy it. I had it installed on a new construction home. It works during the day in the sunlight but needs an converter/adapter (about $80) to run it at night. I have purchased the converter to run in during the heat of the summer. The unit is attractive and streamlined and blends more with the roof. Unlike those hideous whirlybirds. I am happy with the unit so far. I gave it four stars which is very good in my opinion and the price is a little high but in the long run will be worth the investment. I think the converter should be included with the fan without raising the price. That probbly would have gotten the fifth star. March 8, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solar fans We bought two fans one is working nicely in our attic & keeping the upstairs rooms much cooler tban they were before. Installed second one in garage & is not working...had to send for a third one to replace that fan. Waiting for installer to switch it out to see if garage gets any cooler. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent solar attic fan This is a beautifully made, lightweight yet very effective attic fan for a small to medium sized house. It has had a noticeable effect on bringing down the in-house temperatures during terribly hot days. The installation was not difficult though longer than the hour promoted by the product makers. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BE COOL AS DISCRIBED EASY TO INSTALL DOES THE JOB WITH NO POWER August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase Ever. I Recommend this fan. Sweet Cooling for Texas My A/C company selected the product based on the CFM available for my home of 1700 sf. Even with a new unit American Standard he said this would help cool the attic. I had it installed and it started working right away. The summer in Texas is brutal. Temps are average 95-98 degrees in July. I really feel this is making a great impact. No electric wiring and a 20 year warranty. I'm sitting pretty knowing this little guy is up on the roof! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 20-Watt Gable Mount Solar Attic Fan I actually purchased this for my greenhouse to reduce the heat and it has worked well for that. It is a smaller (8' X 12') greenhouse so I am not sure how effective it would be as a gable fan in exhausting heat in an attic. My only disappointment is that the product information stated that it came with a 30' power cord; it didn't. The cord that came with the fan is about 16 feet. August 16, 2016
