Installation took less than two hours, but be aware of one oversight. The installation guide has "10 easy steps," but it leaves out any mention of the included humidistat and thermostat. The two are pre-wired and tied to the fan assembly, but need to be untied so they hang 18" into the attic open space. The thermostat enables operation above 80 degrees (so you don't exhaust warm air in the winter) and the humidistat turns on the fan when humidity is above 60% (to dry out a damp attic). Once the fan is installed near the crest of your roof, the top solar panel can be set at multiple angles to optimize solar capture. There is also a screen to keep out critters. It pumps out a lot of heat for such a quiet and automatic fan.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by rico Very easy to install
This fan is a breeze to install, pun intended. It is extremely quiet, as a matter of fact, I have to look up in the attic to make sure it is working. It does everything it says. I'm very happy with the purchase, the install and I highly recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about purchasing one. I am a really big fan of this product, pun intended again.

Even watching videos and hearing people say negative things. I purchased it anyways. Keeps our attic temperature way cooler. Huge difference! If your on the fence about purchasing it don't be. I also purchased the AC plug and love it. Quality material. Only needed one as well.

Im excited I just had the fan installed for $200. This happens when your not a handyman, oh well!
I went in to the attic and the fan is super quiet and I can see the solar barrier film move as the fan sucks all the hot air out!!
Highly recommend this fan, In Vegas its always Hot, this time up in the attic I could feel the difference 45 minutes after install.

I purchased the 30W unit online, late last fall and the thermostat burned up a few weeks ago as far as I know. Probably due to heavy usage lately. Since I don't spend much time in the attic, it could have burned out last year. The unit worked when installed and was very functional and quiet. Now its burned out. Home depot does not carry the unit so I had to order the replacement from Texas and hopefully gets here quick. I hope this issue was a one-off otherwise the whole thing will be replaced soon. I hope this thermostat is the part that is the problem as it could be the AC\solar adapter which I also purchased. The Remington customer service seems very obliging and offered to send the replacement first thing tomorrow. Home depot should offer a new 1 year warranty since it only gets used in the summer, and this is the first summer I began to use it, which it failed...
I also noticed the price has dropped this year.

Quality Looks stoutly made, However the wire to keep varmints out could be better. The company state you could take it a part to replace the motor from the out side. Well I am hope that's no time soon. I do not see it as been a ease job. With little nut to undo around the unit under side of the hood not mention it's on the pitch roof, well unless your very flexible with good hand and eye a coordination and your balance is what it needs to be. Your going to have to do with I did and get someone to do it for you. But it can be dun.
Value. I pain in the Four hundred dollar range I could have got another $130.00 hard wire unit that was in the place of this Solar powered attic fan. But with the advertisement of a life time warranty and the so call ease of replacement of the motor, not to mention saving on the power bill. I decided to go with the solar. I only have a 1000 sq. ft. home. A 20-Watt unit would have dun for this size house, but I was told higher is better if you can afford it. So I want with a 30- watt that push 1550 CFM.
Well It dose not seem to pull as much hot air as the old unit did. It dose work just not enough to keep the house tolerable all day. What I do notice and like, is that I can not hear it. I have to open the attic opening to check to make sure it running.
I do not know if I can say this. But after the 30-watt unit was installed. The house is a lot wormer at night. This is the first year I fine the house at night hart to cool off. We only had a few hot days after putting in the new unit. But it was after it was install that cooling the house off a night seem all most impossible. so much for saving money and being comfortable in the summer in my own home.
I did buy the hook up power cord so we could use it at night. However I have not used it as of yet. I am hopping when I do the house would cool down at night. It will not be saving on the power bill If I do.
You know with they say: Live and learn. so If I live though the summer I know I surely will have learn something.
