The specifications on most solar attic fans are messed up. Is the width and depth measurements of the base with the flashing or of the housing for the fan? I only have about 22" of clearance in the spot I want to put it. will this unit fit?

Customer Reviews

30-Watt 1550 CFM Gray Solar Powered Attic Fan is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Makes a significant difference in what used to be a hotbox of an attic. Thinking of installing another in a separate attic space. Good customer service, as well. Had a problem with the thermostat and they immediately sent out a replacement free of charge. One complaint... The installation instructions are very poorly written. If I didn't have significant DIY experience, I think I would have quickly ended up with a hole in my roof and no way to proceed without calling a professional. And the installation video needs to be updated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every house should have one of these Installation took less than two hours, but be aware of one oversight. The installation guide has "10 easy steps," but it leaves out any mention of the included humidistat and thermostat. The two are pre-wired and tied to the fan assembly, but need to be untied so they hang 18" into the attic open space. The thermostat enables operation above 80 degrees (so you don't exhaust warm air in the winter) and the humidistat turns on the fan when humidity is above 60% (to dry out a damp attic). Once the fan is installed near the crest of your roof, the top solar panel can be set at multiple angles to optimize solar capture. There is also a screen to keep out critters. It pumps out a lot of heat for such a quiet and automatic fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product home depot pro desk gave names of local contractors to install. Not a one returned our e-mails. Had installed by a local roofer who was done in app 2hours. One of my biggest complaints was no veterans discount because of being ordered on line. Our roofer said it was the best product he has installed. It dropped the temperature in our vaulted living room by app 15 degrees immediately. Made the wife happy and you know what thats worth.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solar attic fans. First solar fans I have ever used. So far they are working great. I am very happy with their quality and self reliance. They work as advertised and have lowered the attic temperature significantly. Not too sure they will last the 20 years as the warranty gives, but it is nice have such a warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps to Lower Attic Temperature Delivered fast and all parts were intact. I installed it on my high pitch roof by myself. I wouldn't say it's easy but a person with some carpenter experience can do it. I have noticed it is doing what I wanted which was to cool my attic temperature which was too hot.
