Installation is very difficult on tile roof because of poor product design. Apparently the millions of tile roof home owners are not important to the manufacturer. The instructions are a joke, poorly written in broken English and with such glaring errors as a title of 8 tips when only 5 tips are given.
The jury remains out on the longterm quality of both the solar cell and the fan. The fan is quiet, but seems underpowered for the rated attic square footage. Do not buy this product if you have either a tile or a shake roof. It is designed for asphalt shingles only.

Makes a significant difference in what used to be a hotbox of an attic. Thinking of installing another in a separate attic space.
Good customer service, as well. Had a problem with the thermostat and they immediately sent out a replacement free of charge.
One complaint... The installation instructions are very poorly written. If I didn't have significant DIY experience, I think I would have quickly ended up with a hole in my roof and no way to proceed without calling a professional. And the installation video needs to be updated.

So far so good.I had this Solar Powered Attic Fan installed and it is doing a pretty good job at cooling down my attic temperature. The only problem I have had so far was with the thermostat. The one that came with the order wasn't working right,so they sent me another right away.I'm very happy with the service from Remington.

This solar fan works pretty well. I installed it on a low slope roof with the curb mount. I agree with another user that Remmington should have provided a circular template. The whole idea about using a string is stupid. What are you going to do measure out 14.5 inches on a string then tack one end to the roof and then tie another end to a pencil or marker. That is really lame. Put a 5 cent cardboard cut out in the box which allows for a great layout before you put a hole in your roof. Other manufacturers do it and Remminton should too. Yes, this is your customer telling you what we want.
Also, like another reviewer commented, any shade will cause the fan to shut off. I put one finger over it and it shuts off. It needs full sun to run. In San Diego the fan will run from about 8 am to 5 pm in summer. There is not enough sunlight at other hours to run the fan.
I got the adapter as well to run the fan at over 80 F when there is not enough daylight (IE night time). The instructions were laughable. You can tell they were written by someone in China because the sentence structure makes no sense. Remmingtion should have written the instructions themselves rather than rely on their manufacturer.
The last item is the curb mount. It is built really well. The instructions are super lame though. They are lacking in detail in every aspect. The instructions say to make a 2x4 box 24" by 24". If you build it that way the curb will not fit since you need to add metal flashing. The 2x4 box should be built around 23.625" x 23.625" which gives you room for your metal "L" flashing. Re-cutting a 2x4 box would be a pain in the neck and at least double your installation time.
Small items like these could make the installation process so much cleaner & better. Overall the products seem solid.

First solar fans I have ever used. So far they are working great. I am very happy with their quality and self reliance. They work as advertised and have lowered the attic temperature significantly. Not too sure they will last the 20 years as the warranty gives, but it is nice have such a warranty.
