There's no need to brush anything but you'll vacuum as dirt builds up like you would normally do.

Please provide proof that your device does what you claim. What warranty of fitness for the purpose you give? How effective it really is ?

I'm a retire engineer (EE/ChE). And no I have not disassembled the unit and while a bit curious don't intend to mess with what works and works well for my application. Another poster mentioned this is 25 y.o. technology. I remember working with similar technology in the 50s and it was old back then. (My first computer ran on punch cards) My pool and spa were in bad shape with regard to algae. Pump was not working so I put the unit in the spa and within a week to 10 days I could see the effects. Algae was not gone but it was obvious the unit was working. (Update pump was fixed last night so I shocked the pool and spa. Pool as expected was much better this AM, spa was in PREMO condition. One question I do have: what is the quantitative and quantitative make up of the copper electrode. I could run the test myself but don't have access to a lab & tools anymore as I'm long and well retired. An aside: The unit will remove iron and other chemicals from the pool water. These are relatively harmless but better out of the system. I'm mentioning this as they look VERY bad but are not indicative of a problem. In fact the unit is working as intended. Other positives: under the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid) Low cost (with 2 year warranty.) Low maintenance (my 8 y.o grand son does the maintenance. (at that age an at-a-boy from grandpa is golden) If it breaks its a pluck and chuck replacement (grand kids want to take it apart for the DIY solar panel projects). BYW Nothing on my pool can be replaced professionally for less that $150.

Can this be used in an above ground pool?

Asked by: DandJ
I see no reason why you couldn't use this in an above ground pool. As long as you keep it clean, and remove it when the copper level reach the high limit.

Pool Chlorine Free Sun Shock is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this. Three days after putting this in the pool our yellow algae problem disappeared. We didn't shock for 10 days after that. Previously we'd been putting in 2.5-5 lbs of shock a week to try to make the algae disappear (plus using algicide). Now we are down to putting in about 10 oz. of shock every 10 days, plus we do use a chlorine tablets in our chlorinator. After rain we are seeing small spot breakouts of yellow algae which immediately brush away, but before we got this, one entire wall of the pool was bright yellow and it wasn't brushing off. We had no problem with assembly and do clean it weekly. Process takes about 10 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give it time I placed this in my pool in late spring. I had a real mess with green algae and over treating with chemicals. The first few weeks the weather was very cloudy and I saw some positive results but not what all the reviews said. I reduced my chlorine feeder and things stayed about the same. I shocked a few times and that seemed to help. Finally, after 3 months the pool looks better than it ever has. I had a lot of scale to clean off of the electrode each week, but that's easy enough to do. Give this product enough time and you will be glad you did. I did have to get a replacement. The nylon wing screw that hold the basket in place broke and they would not replace just that part. A stronger or shorter screw would be a good improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from God send! After 1 and 1/2 years of clear water but green algae on bottom and sides and nothing I did helped, I purchased this solar unit mostly on a prayer and on very positive reviews. I cleaned the pool, installed this unit tethering it to the most sunny part of the pool and hoped! I kept the chlorine level a little high, (which before the installation didn't help), I have a 2 speed pump that I run on high during the day and on low at night. It has been installed for over a month now and absolutely no algae at all, I've backed my chlorine level back down to normal and life is good now! Thank You Remington! I wish I could give U more stars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this product. We always struggled to keep the algae out of the pool. We are in South Flo... I love this product. We always struggled to keep the algae out of the pool. We are in South Florida. We put this in and our problem was solved. In fact, at one time our pool pump died and we didn't know it because the Sun Shock kept the water clear for weeks after the pump went down. Do not hesitate to buy this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT!!!!! I've had a problem with algae for the last 2 matter how much shock and chlorine we had in the pool, it kept coming back. When we open the pool every year we use a product called green to clear which contains copper to kill the algae and bacteria. After a little research I found this and it's been a life saver. ZERO algae all summer long and no chemicals other than chlorine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if what I described is your problem too.
