Answer:
Yes, you will still need to remove debris from your pool. This simply treats the water to prevent algae growth. You may not need to brush as much depending on your local conditions. I have an automatic pool vacuum, but I still need to vacuum and adjust ph etc.

Answer:
Yes. You'll still have debris in the pool (well, at least I do in mine) that will need to be skimmed and vacuumed as normal pool care. However, you will be adding only about 20% of the chlorine that you are used to. Your pool will stay clear and it will seem like magic. If the pool gets cloudy from just natural small debris in your pool, simply run your filter. But you shouldn't need to add chlorine.

My pool and spa were in bad shape with regard to algae. Pump was not working so I put the unit in the spa and within a week to 10 days I could see the effects. Algae was not gone but it was obvious the unit was working. (Update pump was fixed last night so I shocked the pool and spa. Pool as expected was much better this AM, spa was in PREMO condition.
One question I do have: what is the quantitative and quantitative make up of the copper electrode. I could run the test myself but don't have access to a lab & tools anymore as I'm long and well retired.
An aside: The unit will remove iron and other chemicals from the pool water. These are relatively harmless but better out of the system. I'm mentioning this as they look VERY bad but are not indicative of a problem. In fact the unit is working as intended.
Other positives: under the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid)
Low cost (with 2 year warranty.)
Low maintenance (my 8 y.o grand son does the maintenance. (at that age an at-a-boy from grandpa is golden)
If it breaks its a pluck and chuck replacement (grand kids want to take it apart for the DIY solar panel projects). BYW Nothing on my pool can be replaced professionally for less that $150. Read Less

30 day money back guarantee that it works. And if you still don't believe us, check out the reviews. (By the way, to be honest with you, we didn't believe it either. We tested this for a year before we brought it to market. We were absolutely amazed and our test pools were performing extremely well. So now we are changing the mindset of pool owners one pool at a time. Come on in, the waters' fine!)

I have found it to be effective and well worth the money. I estimate that my chlorine use has been reduced by about 75%. The chlorine test strips show no chlorine in the water, yet I have no algae. I live in a hot climate in the foothills of Central California.

Some people used to put pennies in the bottom of flower vases to keep the water clear. This is the same principle, except we use solar electric power to enhance the effectiveness. I cannot mention other brand names here, but there are a couple of similar products on the market that use the exact same technology. Some of those websites have very technical data and experiential customer information. You may want to "Google" solar pool ionizers and you will see some competing products, albeit much more expensive. And if that doesn't convince you, Remington Solar will guarantee product performance for 30 days or your money back. Read Less

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 45 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Give it time I placed this in my pool in late spring. I had a real mess with green algae and over treating with chemicals. The first few weeks the weather was very cloudy and I saw some positive results but not what all the reviews said. I reduced my chlorine feeder and things stayed about the same. I shocked a few times and that seemed to help. Finally, after 3 months the pool looks better than it ever has. I had a lot of scale to clean off of the electrode each week, but that's easy enough to do. Give this product enough time and you will be glad you did. I did have to get a replacement. The nylon wing screw that hold the basket in place broke and they would not replace just that part. A stronger or shorter screw would be a good improvement. September 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy and it works! It is easy to put together. Cleaning is quick and fast to put back together. Pool is sparkling clean water. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this. Three days after putting this in the pool our yellow algae problem disappeared. We didn't shock for 10 days after that. Previously we'd been putting in 2.5-5 lbs of shock a week to try to make the algae disappear (plus using algicide). Now we are down to putting in about 10 oz. of shock every 10 days, plus we do use a chlorine tablets in our chlorinator. After rain we are seeing small spot breakouts of yellow algae which immediately brush away, but before we got this, one entire wall of the pool was bright yellow and it wasn't brushing off. We had no problem with assembly and do clean it weekly. Process takes about 10 minutes. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Buy it!! This is a MUST if you own a pool!!! Buy it asap, also keep it clean September 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product This product does exactly what it says. I used it all summer and my pool was as clear as it ever has been; and with only a very minimal amount of chlorine. One note, and not a negative for me, but may be for some: I did have to clean my filters (polyester cartridge type) about twice as often. September 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprising results - clear water and balanced chem levels Added two of these to large pool with attached spa. Have had problems with green algae every year in the Texas summer heat. Tired of the "margarita pool" and dumping hundreds of Dollars to clear it up each time. These units have been in the pool for a month now and cleaned once following instructions. Hint: wear gloves when cleaning. Pool is maintaining levels perfectly which I've not been able to do ever. Very Happy! September 1, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOES NOT WORK! DOES NOT WORK, NOT EVEN DURING WINTER TIME, MY POOL IS COMPLETELY GREEN WATER! I ALREADY CHECKED AND THE ANODE IS NOT TOUCHING ANY OTHER PART THAT IT SHOULD. September 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by God send! After 1 and 1/2 years of clear water but green algae on bottom and sides and nothing I did helped, I purchased this solar unit mostly on a prayer and on very positive reviews. I cleaned the pool, installed this unit tethering it to the most sunny part of the pool and hoped! I kept the chlorine level a little high, (which before the installation didn't help), I have a 2 speed pump that I run on high during the day and on low at night. It has been installed for over a month now and absolutely no algae at all, I've backed my chlorine level back down to normal and life is good now! Thank You Remington! I wish I could give U more stars! August 11, 2015
