Answer:
Yes, you will still need to remove debris from your pool. This simply treats the water to prevent algae growth. You may not need to brush as much depending on your local conditions. I have an automatic pool vacuum, but I still need to vacuum and adjust ph etc.

Answer:
Yes. You'll still have debris in the pool (well, at least I do in mine) that will need to be skimmed and vacuumed as normal pool care. However, you will be adding only about 20% of the chlorine that you are used to. Your pool will stay clear and it will seem like magic. If the pool gets cloudy from just natural small debris in your pool, simply run your filter. But you shouldn't need to add chlorine.

My pool and spa were in bad shape with regard to algae. Pump was not working so I put the unit in the spa and within a week to 10 days I could see the effects. Algae was not gone but it was obvious the unit was working. (Update pump was fixed last night so I shocked the pool and spa. Pool as expected was much better this AM, spa was in PREMO condition.
One question I do have: what is the quantitative and quantitative make up of the copper electrode. I could run the test myself but don't have access to a lab & tools anymore as I'm long and well retired.
An aside: The unit will remove iron and other chemicals from the pool water. These are relatively harmless but better out of the system. I'm mentioning this as they look VERY bad but are not indicative of a problem. In fact the unit is working as intended.
Other positives: under the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid)
Low cost (with 2 year warranty.)
Low maintenance (my 8 y.o grand son does the maintenance. (at that age an at-a-boy from grandpa is golden)
If it breaks its a pluck and chuck replacement (grand kids want to take it apart for the DIY solar panel projects). BYW Nothing on my pool can be replaced professionally for less that $150. Read Less

30 day money back guarantee that it works. And if you still don't believe us, check out the reviews. (By the way, to be honest with you, we didn't believe it either. We tested this for a year before we brought it to market. We were absolutely amazed and our test pools were performing extremely well. So now we are changing the mindset of pool owners one pool at a time. Come on in, the waters' fine!)

I have found it to be effective and well worth the money. I estimate that my chlorine use has been reduced by about 75%. The chlorine test strips show no chlorine in the water, yet I have no algae. I live in a hot climate in the foothills of Central California.

Some people used to put pennies in the bottom of flower vases to keep the water clear. This is the same principle, except we use solar electric power to enhance the effectiveness. I cannot mention other brand names here, but there are a couple of similar products on the market that use the exact same technology. Some of those websites have very technical data and experiential customer information. You may want to "Google" solar pool ionizers and you will see some competing products, albeit much more expensive. And if that doesn't convince you, Remington Solar will guarantee product performance for 30 days or your money back. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this. Three days after putting this in the pool our yellow algae problem disappeared. We didn't shock for 10 days after that. Previously we'd been putting in 2.5-5 lbs of shock a week to try to make the algae disappear (plus using algicide). Now we are down to putting in about 10 oz. of shock every 10 days, plus we do use a chlorine tablets in our chlorinator. After rain we are seeing small spot breakouts of yellow algae which immediately brush away, but before we got this, one entire wall of the pool was bright yellow and it wasn't brushing off. We had no problem with assembly and do clean it weekly. Process takes about 10 minutes. August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by At first it looked great but over the recent month of use .... At first I was impressed. Did seem to be working. Then not so well. Put it in the spa only and it did control the algae. Checked the spa this afternoon and I have copper induced stains on the spa walls. The excess copper DID NOT show up on the test strip. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Remington solar chlorine free sun shock The Remington solar sun shock is the best ever . Just put in pool it's great. No green it's clean. August 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WOW! What a difference. This sun shock is great! No more chlorine smelly dry skin when you get out of the pool and I'm saving a ton on not having to buy chlorine. Just make sure it's getting enough sun to function properly. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It really works I have recommended this product to everyone I know. I have used about half my normal chemical and the pool is crystal clear. The only down side is when I clean the copper tube and the coils with the wire brush my fingernails pick up the green color if I am not careful so wear gloves. My pool is an in ground cement 43,000 gallon pool so I bought 2. August 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! last year we had a tough time keeping our pool clear and free of algae. This year we have cut down on chemical use and it is thanks to the Sun Shock. My pool is clear and i finally feel like its not a money pit. It took about a month to notice any copper levels so you have to be patient but once its starts working you will notice. I am very happy with the product. July 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Purchase Ever Product does work as advertise, easy to maintain. Keeps the water clear! August 13, 2016
