We used this product on our back porch - the decking is at least 20 years old and is South - West facing in West Texas - is has been cooked! We spot sanded to remove the few spots of gloss from a years old coat of red wood stain and applied with a paint brush. The consistancy reminded me of a smooth soupy cement mix, it went into the old boards like butter. The second coat left the antique boards looking and feeling like fiber boards. Dried to foot traffic within a few hours. Will be back for more to cover the pool deck!

Precisely applied per instructions last May and the product is peeling off in strips less than a year later. Rustoleum has already advised they are sending a refund (but based at the current price, not the more expensive cost from last year). The refund doesn't take into account all of the prep and application time to install, or the time it's going to take to strip what's left of of the product off the deck. Very dissatisfied.

Followed instructions to the T. Applied last fall, this is what it looks like this spring. I haven't even had the chance to enjoy my deck. With a little chip exposed, my husband blows leaves off the deck, there goes chunks of the sealer. I will not have to sand and apply something else. Very expensive product, big guarantee, very dissatisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Sawdustmaker Restore Deck and Concrete Resurfacer in California Rustic
Used this product on both decks at our Mountain cabin that gets lots of snow and rain making the original stain coating very slippery. The Restore product works very well as advertised but is time consuming to apply. It is very thick, like concrete mix, so I applied it with the special roller very s-l-o-w-l-y right out of the 3.75 gallon can( its advertised as a 4 gallon??), if you go too fast the stuff spatters all over. Be sure to seal the edges of the deck boards FIRST with matching stain as this product will not go in between the boards and you will be left with unsightly edges! Also, attempting to trim with a brush is not very pretty- try using the smaller roller as much as possible- I even cut down a large roller to make a couple of the smaller rollers as my HD store didn't carry them. We used 4 buckets to cover 420 square feet on the front deck and almost 4 buckets to cover the 370 square feet on the rear deck including steps. The finished product after 2 coats looks very good- 2 coats are a must! I also filled in my screw holes by dabbing a small amount of the product in each hole the day before rolling on the first coat. It appears to dry to the touch within a few hours (can walk on) but needs several days to totally dry before putting furniture or barbecues on. On the negative side, one bucket only covers 100 square feet with 2 coats making this product on the expensive side, but the results are worth it! Can't wait to see how it holds up to snow! Get all of your product from one store- we found different stores used different colorants and they didn't match!

We used this on our michigan deck last summer, it looked great, a lot of work to put it on...this spring we found that where the rain dripped off the eave this product has peeled up, so now we have spots on our deck that we have bare deck down to the wood....
