Rated 5 out of 5 by Exactly what I needed to restore my old, cracking deck boards. Product works as described when directions are followed. Follow the instructions exactly and you can't go wrong. I recommend using the Restore cleaner over any other cleaner prior to applying product. Take your time when applying or you will end up wasting a lot. Since applying about a month ago I have even lightly power washed the surface and it has held up without any problems. July 9, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Expensive but good, check color. If you want the color in shown in the swatch, add more brown. My deck came out gray. I calculated I would need three 4 gallon cans -- ended up using five! I couldn't afford another $240 for a second coat on the whole deck, so I had to second coat only partially. It's a back breaking job, with a lot of pressure used to make sure the product goes into any cracks in the decking. Get twice as many rollers as suggested. It is concrete based, so I hope it lasts. Time will tell. May 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Option To Avoid Deck Surface Replacement I coated my deck with Rust-Oleum ‘Deck Restore’. It is very thick & heavy, literally like pudding, It contains sand so it needs to be mixed very thoroughly and applied very slowly, it is more difficult than regular staining or painting. You must use a special roller available only from Rust-Oleum, one of mine started to fall apart at the end of the first day of coating. For me, one 4-gallon pail covered 100 sq. feet (2 coats) just as the directions say. So basically the material alone cost about $0.80 per sq. ft., which is expensive but much less than deck replacement. I found slight color differences between the 7 pails purchased, I recommend mixing the pails together before application. My deck was in terrible shape from 19 years of direct sun weathering, some boards were so bad I had to replace them. The Restore does a good job covering most cracks & splinters. My deck & stairs is 612 sq. feet, it took two solid days and 27 gallons of material to complete 2 coats. The directions say you can back-brush the second coat to get a smoother finish, it is a lot of work for a big deck so I did not do it. I just left the roller finish and it is coarse, like a concrete pool deck. Photos attached. After a couple weeks everything looks good. If the surface holds up as advertised this will be a great option to avoid complete deck surface replacement. August 19, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Waste of money. Would not recommend. Does not last. Chips and flakes off. I wasted over $1100 on this product. August 26, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by not that great Very hard to apply and need at least 3 days without rain or the sand will wash away October 21, 2014
