Customer Questions & Answers

how does this product up to heat?

My current deck is painted and gets very hot, too hot to walk on with bare feet. I read in one review that this product gets extremely hot to where you cant walk on it, I'm trying to avoid this. any help would be appreciated
Asked by: Anonymous
Honestly what ever product you install it will give you the same result. A hot deck will only give you a hot surface to walk on. Options to cure your problem: 1. Install some kind of awning or a cover. I have installed UV tinted roofing over a pergola. 2. install a water mister that can cool the area with misting water. Works well but can get humid. 3. wear flip flops. Cheapest solution. Not trying to be sarcastic either.

We have a very large deck and are constantly hammering the nail heads down. What happens when the nail heads come back up through the product? Won't

the material crack and peel and be a big ugly mess?
Asked by: Anonymous
I wouldn't use it. It started peeling up in less than 2 years!!!

will produts work on older wood decks

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, Deck & Concrete Restore will work on older decks. Restore will fill cracks up to 1/4" and for anything up to 3/8" you can use Restore Crack Filler. Be sure to properly prep your surface. Surface must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, mildew, organic growth, and other contaminants to insure proper bonding and adhesion. Smooth and or glossy surfaces: should be sanded or roughed up to aid in adhesion. For best results use a pressure washer to remove embedded dirt and grime. For grease and oil spots; use tri-sodium phosphate (TSP) according to manufacturer’s directions to remove stains. For mildew and other organic growths use a dilution of household bleach (3 parts water to 1 part bleach) applied to the surface before cleaning. Raised nail heads and/or screws should be secured before applying Deck & Concrete Restore. Using a power sander on the deck should be done with care to ensure galvanized coating is not stripped off the nail heads and/or screws. If the galvanized coating is removed, the product will need to be taken down to bare wood only over the nails and/or screws and a rust inhibitor should be sprayed on the nail heads and/or screws. Touch up work will need to be done over those affected areas using left over Deck & Concrete Restore.

Deck Liquid Armor Resurfacer 4 gal. Water Based California Rustic Exterior Coating is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ugly Old Deck Gets Awesome Make Over I am a licensed professional contractor that builds and restores broken decks. This is my 10th time using this product to restore worn down deck boards. It goes on easy but go slow when applying or you will get splatter! The deck will turn out great as long as you prepare the surface properly. I just did a 26 foot by 10 foot deck and I used 2 each 4 gallon bucks. Don't skimp on the amount you need. Rule of thumb is double what you think you will need if you are not a professional!!!!!! 1st - power wash 2nd - knock down any high nails or screws 3rd - add new deck screws to loose boards to give added strength 4th - it does help to use the MH patching material to fill screw holes and large decfects. It makes the boards look better in the end if you do so. 5th - Roll product on slowly!!! Coat deck a minimum of 2 times to get the best results!. 6th - Let it dry and enjoy! The other great thing is they do color matching!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great on old decks Bought a foreclosure with a deck that probably hasn't been maintained in 5 years. Did a little prep work and layed this stuff on thick. I did one coat and left it on for a week, then touched it all up again with a second coat. The only thing I didn't like was the recommended surface size was off... I used it liberally and was able to complete the project in 3/4 of the recommended use... Didn't need 2 4 gallon buckets

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Restores Works! I have an older deck and live in Northern New York where we get snow and ice and cold temperatures. The sun also beats down on the deck all day and fades everything. Restore filled in all the cracks, knot holes etc and sealed everything. Because of the thickness the coverage wasn't as I would like but overall what a Great Product! Now I don't expect I will have to stain the deck every year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Saved me an expensive deck repair Purchased this to refinsh a deck that hadn't been well taken care of in what i would say 3-5 years. Prepped by powerwashing and cleaning with deck clearner. Applied product and it covered many all the small cracks and holes. Did take more than the can said. Caution is larger holes you need to fill in with a wood filler before or the larger holes will show up more due to the contrast of your newer looking deck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Works and looks great however, make sure you order the correct amount the first time around and plan the job . What I mean by planning the job is, have the material mixed at the store and apply as soon as you get to the site. Otherwise, if it sits, it will settle and not spread evenly. Order enough because if you run out, you take the chance the second mix will not be the same colour. I have applied numerous products on decks and concrete and this has been the best so far. You can pressure wash each spring and easily clean off the winter dirt. Make sure you pre-wash the deck or concrete about two hours before to remove dirt and/or pre-wash the previous day if the outside temperature is not sufficient to dry the deck or concrete within two hours. Cut in before you roll the main area. Make sure you buy the proper roller applicator. Don't replace your deck furniture for 24 hours. This product does not cover the same square feet as paint will. You need at least four times more of this product than you would require for stain or paint but do the math, it is less expensive than replacing the deck or concrete.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing product does not cover well. We used this product on a previously painted cement lanai. It took 8 gallons to cover a 225 sq. foot area, more than double what the directions indicate. It also did not fill in the very small cracks and dimples even after two coats. There is no way that 1/4" deep cracks would be filled. Drying time was also not as on the directions. It took over 24 hours before we could apply a second coat and even then, it was very slightly tacky. The product also took over 72 hours to dry after the second coat and even after that, light use left impressions on the surface. If I could do it easily, I would remove the product and use regular cement paint again. I definitely do not recommend for large patio/lanai areas.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Product I've Ever Used. This product is awful. I used a drill mixer in order to thoroughly mix the stuff. Still with both 4 gallon buckets as I got to the middle of bucket the consistency of the product changed entirely. Much more sandier and impossible to spread. So I mixed again and still wasn't able to get the same consistency. The product is a money trap. 2 x 4 gallon pales still wasn't enough to finish my very average sized deck. By that time, I was over it and not about to go out and spend another $90 on a horrible product. Maybe I got a bad batch, but it ruined my deck nonetheless. I've stained a lot of decks over the years. I realize that this stuff isn't a traditional stain, but it is just awful.
