Mounting/Stabilization

From the photos, it appears that the frame is a free-standing frame. Can it be mounted and stabilized by screws at the back of the unit alone?
Asked by: DIYMom
The instructions (and video) emphasize the need to "square" the rails to make sure the baskets slide in and out correctly. An easy tip is to use a ruler (or length of wood just shy of the width of the cabinet) and a rubber wedge (the 99cent kind that you wedge under a door) to help make this process fast and easy. After you've used the 4 screws to attach the two metal support rails to the bottom, and used the one screw to attach the side rail to the cabinet frame (1/4 to 1/3 inch clearance), simply lay the ruler (or whatever you are using to measure) on top of the rails in the front and determine the width at that fixed point and then, near the back of the rail you screwed into the cabinet base, shove the rubber wedge between the cabinet side and the rail to push the rail to be "square" (aka the same width apart as in the front). Being rubber, the wedge goes in very easily and actually grips and holds the rail in place while you screw the back braces to the back wall. Remove the wedge after attaching the back brackets, insert your baskets and they will glide pefectly straight and easy.

What do you do if you have a middle shelf and want to install this unit, would you have to remove the middle shelf and if so how cut knock out I do not know or could I cut the frame and install that way if I drilled new holes.

The center shelf will need to come out. The racks go all the way to the back of the cabinet.

Will two of these work for double door cabinet with divider between doors?

My cabinet is a double door with each side measuring 17 1/2"W X 20 1/2"H X 23"D.Would two of the 14" shelfs work for me? Or even on each side? Or would bigger one'side work? Not sure how they are installed.
Asked by: Diane
Yes, a double -door installation will work, as was for my four unit 2-tier installation (see photo) To stabilize side-by-side double-stack shelves installed in adjacent but single cabinet cavity with two doors and center face-frame, I formed a custom aluminum U-bracket for each pair with my handy metal forming brake. I drilled two holes on each half of the bracket 'wings' to match the extra tapped hole spacing in the basket riser after I decided how deep into the cabinet I wanted the baskets and checked square. I used the two extra machine screws to attach the bracket to the riser of each double-stack. I then attached the common U-portion The bracket to the back side of the center cabinet face frame. Then I screwed each under bracket to the cabinet floor with provided wood screws. You can see the twp brackets in the attached photo, which shows only one part of my 9-unit Rev-A-Shelf pantry installation. Can the two-tier shelf set be installed in a cabinet with a drawer. I notice there is no drawer above the one pictured.

LARGE TWO-TIER CHROME WIRE BASKETS is the one I' interested in.
Asked by: leawood
Yes, that's what I've done on three units. I chose the lower of two available mounting heights for the top basket, which still leaves room for fairly tall items on the lower basket.

These 2- tiered, sliding wire shelves are easy to install, with simple, easy to understand instruction s, and they look awesome too. I love having my pots and pans in full view and within easy reach. The sliding racks move smoothly and easily. My knees have been saved by not having to get on my kitchen floor to remove whatever I'm looking for. Besides, who can see the rear of a dark cabinet? I no longer have to take out, and put back, all the pots I don't need, to get the one I do need (then repeat the whole process when I'm finished using that item)..

I bought it to replace an existing pull-out shelf that does not fully extend out. This model fully extends out and gives complete and easy access to items in the back of the basket. It glides so easily and quietly and looks much nicer than the wooden one I had. This was a simple install that I wish I would have done years ago. What an awesome added convenience! Beware, there are other brands out there that look similar but do not extend out completely. You do NOT want to settle for that!

Shelves slide completely out for easy accessibility to items in the back. The volume of the cabinet is reduced with the unit in place. Less space, but now we can get to those lost items hiding in the back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. Wish I had gotten it before! I purchased this to replace a wooden slide out shelf that had long ago broken. I am a female that is pretty handy with tools. I was a little concerned when I took it out of the package because the pictures accompanying the instructions were not as clear as I had hoped. The instructions tell you to disassemble some of it before installing. I labeled the front and back ends of the drawers and slides with tape before disassembling and this helped. The installation was very smooth even with vague instructions. The product is very sturdy and well made. We are very pleased. The price is high but worth it.

I purchased this to replace an existing stable shelf which was no longer maximizing the utilization of the cabinet. Now that the Rev-A-Shelf is installed, it is working out better than expected. It is sturdy and the sliding mechanisms are smooth, so smooth that despite having loaded up the bottom shelf with vinegar and oil bottles, they aren't tipping over when the drawer is moved. I did not expect that. We've had it for about a month now and it's working out great and I have no complaints. On assembly, my only critical comment would be that some of the screws were resistant to the pre-drilled holes and took more time to install than I would have liked. As for the installation, the instructions call for mounting the frame a 1/4" from the frame face/opening. I would suggest pushing it into the cabinet a hair deeper to 5/16" to keep it from hampering the door from closing fully.

The unit can be installed without being braced to the sides - this makes it easy to choose a smaller unit and anchor the bottom and rear. The glides on the pull-outs are smooth and allow for easy reach.

I must say the assembly time shown on the box was 30 minutes but it took about an hour to get it done. It was easy to assemble and install but most of all it looks good and works great.
