How much weight can I store on these shelves?

Asked by: nancybb2
The shelf itself can hold quite a bit of weight as we have put over 15 pounds on the top shelf. However, if too much weight is put on the shelf, it will start to slide down the pole. This can be fixed by putting a clamp around the pole underneath each shelf.

I want to know if the cabinet I have will work with this shelf system?

What is the measurement from the vertex of the pie cut in the shelf to the outside edge of the radius of the shelf.
Asked by: mikebk
The measurement from the center point (vertex) of the pie cut (in a straight line) to the back edge for the 28" radius is 18-1/8".

This is a well-built unit and much more sturdy than the plastic unit it replaced. However, only one screw is used to hold a shelf in place and a combination of friction and mounting to the doors is expected to hold the weight of items you put on the self. Once the shelves had weight put on them, both of the shelves started to slide down the pole. The solution was to put the clamps from the old Lazy Susan under each of the shelves mounting points and this stopped the shelves from sliding. If the manufacturer were to include two clamps, I would give this 5 stars.

I bought this to replace a 30-yr-old plastic lazy susan that came with the house and had gotten really beat up over the years. It was fairly easy to put together, but the instructions are barely adequate. Also, the 15-minute estimated assembly time is a joke - plan on a couple of hours minimum. That said, the unit fits nicely in the existing corner cabinet with the doors I took off the old one, and I've had no issues since installing it a month or so ago.

This shelf was one of the only choices for the dimensions of the cabinets in our historic house. It is attractive and works well. But, the reviews that say that it is difficult to install are accurate.

The shelves are beautiful...sturdy and well made. But...I'm not sure that the individual set screws for the shelves will hold the shelves securely in place as you rotate and load them. Also, the lazy susan shelves that I replaced rotated individually and these new ones rotate as a whole, which can be a bit problematic. I did not mount the cover doors to the shelves, because we have independent hinged cover doors, and that was not really a problem with our corner cabinet...just make sure you have adequate room between the shelves and the closed doors. Caveats: Use different, longer or bigger wood screws for the round under-shelf supports - several tore out as I was pulling the center post through the shelves in the process of installation. (Yes, I used the center post to locate the supoorts before I screwed them down.) And make sure that the support set screws are pointed forward so that they are acssesable from the front when the shelves are in the detent position. (It's easier to get to them through the "V".) We'll see how it goes with the two shelves rotating as one and whether the shelves stay put with that less-than-desirable set screw arrangement. (I've even thought of replacing the phillips head set screws with hex-head bolts...but cranking down on those would probably deform the center post making it difficult to pull the shelves off the center post if I had to.) Overall - pleased with the shelves, not so much with the mounting hardware or the (minimal) instructions.
