This is a fantastic idea for people who travel and want to conserve energy costs. If it only was reliable it would get more stars. My wifi module is only about 20 feet from my router in the basement....clear line of site. However, it seems the coney wifi module keeps losing its connection. None of my other wifi products lose connection. So as I am typing this review on vacation....my iPad screen says connection error....please unplug the module and plug it back in. I've been doing this a lot for the past three weeks. This has been the case since I got this hooked up three weeks ago. Not sure if it is a defective module or programming. Until I see more reliability I can not recommend this product.
Also, pretty much the only thing you can do is schedule the device to go on and off vacation mode for specific dates and times. It would be nice if you could control it like a programmable thermostat....making it hotter in the mornings as each family member takes their shower so we don't run out of hot water and be able to lower the temp for the rest of the day.
All in all...nice start. Just get it to work and have more programmable options and it will be worth the $50.

This product was easy to install and did so in minutes. The application for the smartphone was installed and no issues in linking unit. The terminology in the application can be improved. It says engage or disengage for on and off

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Annoyed Does not work with Nest as stated on website
I purchased one of these modules after seeing it listed on the Works with Nest website, and even did my research on the setup through Rheem's website noting how simple it would be to set up.
...the problem is, their instructions are for a version of the Econet app that hasn't been released for Android, whereas it went live for iOS in February. In fact, Android hasn't received ANY of the iOS updates since August 2015.
The module was simple enough to install, and I haven't had any issues with it...minus it not doing the one thing I purchased it for, and it apparently looking as if Rheem has completely dropped support for the Android app.

Their site is often down and no one ever replies to your email questions. No wonder the price dropped to $50. It's okay when it works, very basic control.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by OMK Doesn't work with all Androids depending on sw
The primary reason I purchased a Rheem water heater was because of the wifi feature and the ability to control it via the wifi module from my Android devices. Well as of 11-15-2015 the Rheem Econet app won’t even install on Android devices that are running Lollipop 5.0 sw or higher. I own 2 Android devices both with Lollipop 5 sw. I’ve tried it on a total of 6 Android devices (brands included Sony, Samsung, Asus, LG) all with Lollipop 5 or higher and I get the same message “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”. The app was able to be installed on a friend's iPad and an Android phone with Kit Kat sw, but I don’t own any of those devices. The WINK app will install, but it is barely adequate. It works about half the time. I called Rheem tech support twice and they were clueless about the app issue and of no help. Do not buy this if you own an Android that has or will have newer software. Ended up returning it. If they fix the bugs, I may try it again.

This app is almost worthless. You can't turn off or on by application. You can only set it for "vacation" but nowhere can you find out what the temperature is for that setting. I've used it, come home and still had hot water. You need to be able to turn the entire unit off to save power and money!
