Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kelz I bought this tankless hot water heater to update the old one that came with the house we purchased last year. I also purchased the vent kit that went with it. Little did I realise that Home Depot does not sell the same pipeing that I need to install the tank, because the kit only had a few pieces for the venting - would have been fine if I could have done it on an exterior wall in my basement- so now Ive spent another $260.00 on vent pipe that I had to purchase directly from the Rheem company ... Once its completely installed I pray that it works very well.. I'll post again to update in a few months to really give the product a try..So far - no too pleased with the hassle its been.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jimmy Unit does not work at high altitude.
We bought a LPG unit. We changed the settings to high altitude and the unit would not function. We called our propane supplier to check to see if we had adequate propane supply, supply was fine He stated that this was his third call on this brand and model of unit and other techs had also found the same problem. He stated that Rheem does not work at our altitude. i returned the unit and will probably buy a Rinnai.

well, so far it has been nothing but a headache since install. but we seem to have the answer, the propane line had to be 3/4 not 3/8. we kept getting codes 11 and 12. hopefully, once the new propane line and regulator are in, there will be no more problems of not getting hot water at certain faucets. once it is running i would say i am 80% happy with it, only complaint is that it takes a LONG time for hot water to reach the faucets. i hate letting water run and waste water like that! so save propane, waste water.....? i dont know if one outweighs the other. and this is all hinging on the system working after yet ANOTHER adjustment. its a touchy system. things have to be JUST right. water pressure, propane pressure, volume, distance of runs....etc. huh. i just wanted to be environmentally friendly and save some money......but letting the water run so long before it even gets warm makes me nuts.

After two weeks, Rheem technical support did not recognized that I had the LP unit rather than a natural gas. Even the gas company rep talked to the Tech and yet they didn't recognized the issue. Then they send a contractor to check it and they were going to make me to pay for the call. What a customer service.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by powder Very good water heater
Installed about 9 months ago. Works flawlessly. Installed myself with a PEX manifold system and black pipe for the propane line. Runs hot water pretty consistently to 2 fixtures, but starts to come up short on the 3rd. I'm still very impressed with how efficient it is. We went from an electric tank to this LP tankless and saved over 30 bucks a month on electricity. Barely noticed a difference in the propane bill running this and an LP fireplace.
I did have to go elsewhere for the piping though, as HD doesn't sell it unless you're mounting on an outside wall and venting horizontally. I went straight up through the ceiling on an inside wall.
3/4" LP feed is required, says so right in the install manual, just like it says 3/4" water in and out lines. Either know what you're doing or hire someone that does.
You also can't blame the time it takes for hot water to get to the fixture, on the water heater. That is a distance to the fixture, pipe insulation and/or water pressure problem.

I was a little concerned that this would not provide the hot water I needed for my new front loading washing machine, but it did!
I actually took a shower with the washing machine and the dishwasher running all at the same time and had hot water for all 3 things.
Also just note that 120 degrees is plenty hot.
I never run out of hot water.
Another thing is to make sure that you have good water pressure, it will not heat if the water is not flowing fast enough through the unit.
When we go on trips we just turn off the handy little digital unit, its not necessary to do but since it's propane we do.
We installed the unit on a wall in a room that we had just attached on our back porch where our old hotwater heater was, then we vented it out the side wall.
We have received 2 electricity bills since installing this unit and the best part is we have saved about 40% off our electricity bill!!
Sweet huh? and no it does not use a lot of propane either, we used approx. 15 gallons of propane in 2 months, of course that also depends on how much hot water you use also.
It's just myself and husband here but we use the dishwasher approx. 5-6 times a week and wash clothes in warm water approx. 6-10 times a week.
Also taking long HOT showers and using hot water for cleaning etc.
We are very pleased with this product.
Just be sure and order the extra stainless steel connection kit to install with the unit because you cannot buy it in a store anywhere.
In addition we will receive a nice tax credit off our 2009 taxes.
We love it!!!
