CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very happy so far. Bought this Rheem water heater to replace a Noritz that went bad after about 10 years. Installed it myself, which was not difficult as it replaced a similar sized unit. I did have to buy a new vent pipe which is expensive, but it has to be vented correctly. So far it's worked great and supplies plenty of hot water for our 3 bathroom house. My only gripe is since I installed it, I don't qualify for the $375 energy credit. The contractor wanted $1,200 to install so I still saved money. November 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Installation and Maintenance Nightmare Purchased this unit in December 2012. Half of the parts needed to install are not sold at Home Depot. Had to order $ 500 worth of special vent piping from WW Granger. Unit worked fine until February 2014. Unit began flashing error 11 half of the time we turn it on. The plumber has now been out three times and neither Rheem nor the plumber can figure out why. $ 700 in plumbing bills we still have a water heater that works only half the time. Rheem says it is the gas pressure, the gas company has been out three times and says the gas pressure is fine. I would not recommend this unit. April 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good This water heater was fairly easy to install. Probably even easier with plumbing background. March 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy and energy efficient! I am very satisfied with my purchase, and it works great. We turned all 3 showers on at the same time as hot as it would go and the sink and had no problems what so ever. Water stays hot with 6 showers in the morning! Would highly recommend this product. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Tankless is not for everybody. Let me say first off that most plumbers cannot service or install tankless water heaters and are very expensive to do so. The stainless flu is a pain to work with and nobody has parts in stock, they have to be ordered two weeks ahead. There is an online class to learn how. I highly recommend you use the direct flu kit that go outside through the wall if possible. Other wise it does get very expensive. Better yet, use the outdoor mounting type with no flu involved. They will really save on your gas bill especially if you use it as a vacation house by not heating a tank of water 24/7. This is a replacement we bought for a Polermo model that lasted 7 years and had to have it's circuit board replaced twice, once under warranty. The second time is why we replaced the unit. If you want to stay cheap and simple just get the regular type of hot water heater. These do require a maintenance once a year. To be fair you should drain a traditional water heater as well. Good luck, General Contractor and licensed Electrician with near 40 years in the trades. May 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Trouble free for two years. This tank less hot water heater is a maintenance nightmare. About every two years, with normal usage, the burner assembly gets dirty and the gas flow will become restricted. This is a design flaw with many tank less water heaters. The automatic safety features will shut down this unit. It will not operate unless someone cleans the burner assembly. The work involved is very demanding and expensive! September 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frustrated at first, now happier Our older house didn't have the set up for the indoor tankless water heater (which I found out thru my plumber). So we exchanged it for the exterior. Exterior is cheaper & needs no vent...so that saved us $$. Disappointed it only heats to 120* but for most activities that's hot enough. If I could do it over I'd install a big filter on the pipes leading to the water heater to avoid my many cold showers I suffered while trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally figured out (after returning 2) that if the filter gets clogged the burners will not turn on at all. (the display flashes a P1 code & water will never heat). Now, I'm pretty happy with it. Easy to clean the filter & flush the machine. Nice that it has a hot water faucet if you need it to de-ice the car windshield. Love the new indoor space I have w/out that big old water heater. But there is an adjustment/learning to use your new product period. Rarely we still run out of really hot water in the middle of the shower, normally turning the water off for a minute or 2 & then back on restarts the heater & you have hot water again. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase I've been wanting a tankless hot water heater for many years. I finally chose the Rheem because of positive reviews online. It is fairly easy to install according to my installer. It works as advertised. We love having hot water on demand and no fear of a hot water heater rupturing and flooding the house.
