Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tankless Hot Water Review I would reccommend this product to anybody. We purchased this product has a replacment of an older existing tankless system. Important to note, to follow the directions in detail, having a water softner before the system and having the correct gas or lp line to the system is the key. The system has a wonderful safety feature ie. a built in heater to prevent freeze up (excellant) in cold climates. It came with a remote temp. control to be placed in any room of the house to increase or decrease the water temp. My wife really likes this concept for showers at one temp. and hotter water for washing dishes and clothes. Overall great product. February 19, 2011

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it Love this product the water is able to be adjusted to your liking and does not change the temp even when water pump is engaged October 19, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by There are better models at less $ I have one of these units I installed a few months ago, but went with a different unit for install at my second home. First thing to keep in mind, is that this is a non-condensing unit. Condensing units are the newer/premimum technology that are more energy efficient, but as importantely can be vented with PVC rather than stainless steel. There are now condensing units close to the price of this unit, while the difference in venting options can mean up to $200 in savings, so the better condensing units could cost less. I my case, with minimal internet searching I was able to find a new 180,000 btu non condensing unit by Rudd for $450 including freight, so even with $200 in stainless pipe I am still only in it for $650, or almost half price. With the $500 energy rebate credit, that would be just $150 out of pocket. Note that Palmona of Japan owns Rudd and Rheem, and makes the units for both brands. I believe they are the best brand to go with in that parts are more available, and have good features. So while I am happy with Paloma/Rheem/Rudd, I believe this model at this price is not a good value. Otherwise, beware that most all these units require 3/4" gas service, which most homes would not have for a tank style heater. This requires upgrading the line, and unless you are very comfortable with plumbing gas lines and related code, it would be a project for a plumber with related expense. Also note all these units cannot be vented to a masonary chimney, and you may want to think through your venting options bin advance of purchase. November 23, 2011
