Answer:
I do not think that it has freeze protection but I read the Use and Care Manual that the system had a DIP switches to set at different altitude 3,280 Ft (default), it could be set DIP2 third switch to "On" for below 6,560 Ft (I guessed; it is colder in High altitude; It could apply to cold city with low altitude).
Good luck and check the Rheem expert for the solution of your issue.

You will have to measure your vent run to determine the amount of venting that you will need. You will need the standard tools that are required to install a water heater.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tankless Water Heater installed outdoor style, replaced a Noritz model, works better than the Noritz. Will take two people to mount, its heavy, used molly bolts to secure. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by time for a change to new technology Glad I had a .75 inch gas line available, because I didn't read the specifications before purchasing this unit but it worked out great. I have a lot of old steel piping in my old house and this unit works well after I increased the water temp to 140. I'm glad I located the unit on the other side of the house because it does make noise with the fan. Careful where you drain the condensing water, I may have hurt one of our plants, a little to acidic. Remember to check the filter. Works great, no more running out of hot water for the Jacuzzi tub. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product.. I am no plumber. But I installed it in about two hours. I works great and is extremely quiet. December 23, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easily installedon exterior walls without having to run a flue or roof penetrations. Only needs a 1-2 ft clearance from eave Good heater if you don't want to deal with roof penetrations and flues etc. Vent directly to outside. Eave clearances not noted in instructions. Had to call manufacturer to get this info. Otherwise good product for use on exterior walls. October 29, 2013
