HD install service declined proposal, I pulled permit, did work city approved. No issues with FVIR just waited a day after gluing pipe to fire it up. Runs hot. Await Xcel bill.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JC7823 Efficient and works great
Very pleased with my purchase so far. The price tag is high at first but I think it will make up for it in efficency. I was curious how much the blower would effect my electric bill so I put my Killowatt meter on it and I was happily surprised. With 1 hot shower a day, 2 loads of laundry a week, and 2 loads of dishes it costs ~40 cents/month. I'm eager to see if there is a significant drop in my gas bill next month. I have the heat set to two settings above vacation mode, which should be ~120F, and it is still scorching hot. I have not heard the unit run unless I am actively using the hot water as well. Directions for installation were simple and easy to understand.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Markcheat Actually special ordered RHE50P (LP version)
Installation cost including adding an expansion tank and metal base pan was 600.00. (Westminster, MD). We are only in the first week but for a power vent his is dead quiet compared to my older State Select. Bought over a tankless as contractor said they were not yet ready for prime time and not what many expected as far as "low maintenance". He also said better value and more reliable than AO Smith Vertex. One opinion of course but I thought I would share.

This water comes with a flammable vapor sensor, which, in concept is great, but in practice, everything triggers it (ie, cat litter, dust, humidity, wind, the furnace). Once the flammable vapor sensor detects anything, it goes into factory lockout and requires a new motherboard, sensor and valve. We have replaced all three, three times now. One week old. The warranty does NOT cover the labor to replace these parts. After three sets of parts, Rheem refuses to send more. Additionally, a licensed plumber invalidates their warranty (see the fine print). They have to be a Rheem factory certified plumber, none exist in our 2 million population city. Google this vapor sensor and see for yourself. We got one customer service agent to admit that Rheem has a big problem with this model. Rheem won't stand behind their product. You can't beat the efficiency of cold showers!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KCDIYer Excellent high efficiency water heater
I installed this water heater about a month ago and it's been great so far. I'm an advanced DIYer and I found the installation to be relatively straight forward (read the install instructions first though). It heats water well and has been efficient so far. I used the Rheem SP20286 external vent kit when I put the exhaust and intake lines out. Also be sure to have a place for the condensate can drain to --I have a floor drain that's conveniently close to the water heater.
Overall I'm very happy with this product and glad I installed it myself.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by timbalaya Lots of hot water, and fast.
Bought this from Home Depot's website (not stocked in any local stores), but had a different contractor install it, since the one HD uses wanted to charge me more for the install (which involved relocating the new unit about 3 feet away from the original) than the unit cost. I saved about $800 by using a different installer and buying most of the parts they needed. It took 2 guys about 5 hours to get the plumbing moved and hooked up, and to get the venting run out the side of the house. Keep in mind that this unit needs either a concentric termination kit, which makes a 5-1/2 inch hole in your roof or wall, or two separate 2- or 3-inch vent pipes. I already had one 3-inch vent from the original water heater, so I ended up running another alongside it.
This unit was an upgrade from a standard 40-gallon unit. Once it was fired up, I had hot water within 45 minutes. The exhaust fan is very quiet. Since the combustion air is drawn from outside, and there is no pilot, there is virtually no chance of a CO leak. The heater is very energy efficient; it has an energy efficiency rating equal to that of many tankless units.
I am very happy with this water heater, and look forward to lower gas bills every month.
