How to Choose Your Rheem EcoSense Tankless Electric

Choose your application, ie. shower, bath tub or vanity sink-faucet, kitchen sink faucet or washer. See chart below.

For example: you choose a kitchen sink faucet.

See application chart below and locate your flow rate. For example: your flow rate is 1.5 gpm.

On the map, locate the average water temperature in your area.

For example: your water temperature (in Atlanta) is 55°

Use the water temperature and flow rate chart to determine the model you need.

    For example: 1.5 gpm flow rate + 55° = RETE 9.

Rated 1.8 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Warning: Does not use consumer plumbing pipe attachments! Copper pipe ONLY! I replaced a 13 month old piece of Eco-junk that had a five year warranty advertised, but only one year on parts. It was a plastic little piece of junk, for almost the same money, but it had consumer screw-on fittings that attached directly to the sink. The Rheem is a very sturdy unit that should last a very long time, but the threads coming out of the unit are for compression fittings that require a soldered copper pipe conversion to the pipe thread that matches sink faucets. I spent hours trying to find adapters at very specialized shops, to no avail. I do have copper pipe solder abilities, and finally just made my own adapter pipes. I use it on a bathroom sink with a .6 GPM output and it does not warm up instantly, but after 15 seconds, it is good for hand washing and does retain that heat ability for as long as you want to use it. Shower output would be very minimal! Instructions specify very heavy 10 gauge wiring in the building, but it did work fine on a dedicated circuit with regular 12 gauge wire. I would expect this unit to perform perfectly for a very long time. Just be aware of the custom installation requirement and minimal output. February 17, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Failure of product All directions were followed and plumbers installed it.. At med heat heat a slight stream of very luke warm water came forth. I turned it up to high and the water was warmer. We had had such trouble with it I decided to keep it cause it would serve my purposes. The unit doesn't really perform right and needs a good look at the problems before selling to public. The idea is right but it needs to live up to its specifications. Or the directions for installing the product need to be better. Or the product itself needs to be reliable 100% of the time. Somewhere something is wrong with this product July 21, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This is a good product, But it does not make very hot water. This product does not produce sufficent amounts of hot water. I had to turn down the incoming flow in order to even get the little bit I got. When I called to get help, I got transfered from dept to dept. I never did get an answer to the questions I asked. I was finialy transfered to Warranty. They never did answer the phone. I was on hold, on my cell phone, for a total of 65 min. This problem was on the manufactures level not Home Depot. June 12, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product does not provide sufficent heat Installed product everything seemed fine but would not heat water hot enough to be of any use May 14, 2011
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product promised efficiency but did not deliver. Due to it's size and 110V easy connect I was looking forward to a good value and hot water. Even at 2 feet from the faucet the water did not get hot or reach the heat rise as advertised. After giving it a month to preform as promised I have removed it, hope Home Depot will take it back, and am looking at other brands. Meanwhile, not hot water at the sink. April 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tankless Water Heater 0.7 GPM 120 Volt r4equres a dedicated 30 AMP circute. The product is of very good qulity and I would highly recomment this Tankless Hot Water Heater. Please note it requries a dedicated 30amp circut breaker. I would giveit 5 stars. September 1, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product was not packaged with all the parts TWICE!!! We purchased the first product at home depot. It did not have the brackets included in the box. We spent money on an installer who could not do the work and had to pay them to replace the old system so I could have functioning sink plumbing. I bought a second unit online and had it delivered to my home. The installer discovered that box had only 1 bracket instead of 2 and he had to go to Home Depot to have a second bracket fabricated. I had to pay for that extra part (which should have been included) and my installer bill was triple what it would have been if the first product had been complete with all the parts! I'm totally disgusted! August 27, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tankless hot water heater not all that spectacular If all you need is some tepid water then this heater would work fine. We used this heater to replace a 2.5 gallon hot water heater thinking it might provide a more constant supply of hot water to use in our summer rec concession stand. It does a good job of providing a continuous supply of tepid water but that is it. I suppose a more expensive one might provide more hot water but for the money I think a traditional hot water heater is still the best bet. May 29, 2011
