Customer Questions & Answers

what size wire for 25 amp breaker?

Asked by: Al
This water heater is 2000 Watts. According to ohms law you divide the wattage by the voltage to attain the current. The current therefore would be 16.667 Amps. #12 THHN is good for 20 amps, and #10 THHN is good for 30 Amps, however according to the NEC NFPA-70, you cannot use over 80% of the conductor rating and the overcurrent protection device must be rated to meet the conductor's rating . Therefore you have to use #10 or above. 25 amp breakers are difficult to find unless used in commercial or industrial applications. Not to say they cannot be found or ordered, but since you're going to have to go with #10 wire to maintain code compliance you should just go ahead and install a 30 amp single throw overcurrent device (breaker). This answer comes from a Master Electrician. Good luck!

work with tankless?

we installed a rheem tankless not too long ago which works fine problem is the location of the unit, lenght of pipes, etc still means we are waiting and wasting a good amt of time and water waiting for the shower to get hot. can we integrate this unit with our existing tankless and locate the P-O-U close to the shower?
Asked by: blah2u
This Point-Of-Use tank can get water from your tankless system and then supply water to your shower. The Point-Of-Use tank is only going the heat if the water inside the tank is several degrees lower than the thermostat setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Kitchen Sink heater I bought this Rheem to replace cheapo Home Depot model I'd installed 3 years earlier, but it began started leaking (from the anode area no less) and required cutting out my entire cupboard floor to dry it out. The Rheem was a bit of a tight fit, but it finally worked and has performed great ever since (1 year later). Our Kitchen Sink (like most homes) is the busiest in the house, so this unit gets lots of "exercise" to keep up....it's good for about 2 min of very hot water, and after that it's just "lukewarm" for dishwashing, etc. But WAAAYYY better than not having it at all, and better reliablity so far than past units I've looked at or owned.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It worked one time only. I am very unhappy at this point. The water heater worked when installed by a licensed electrician/plumber. It was turned off for a period of time and then turned back on. No longer working. Reset button did not help. It apparently never popped out. I replaced the 30 amp circuit breaker just in case it might be bad. All wires and plumbing are tight. The heater was/is full of water and supply lines are open. The heater was manufactured May 26, 2016 and I purchased June 29, 2016. It was installed a couple months later. I am very disappointed with this product. I can not recommend this product unless problem is resolved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick Hot Water Put this in-line under the kitchen sink so that we wouldn't have to wait so long for hot water. Now have hot water in just a few seconds. For the first few months there would be a small amount of air in the line every time the faucet was turned on. I contacted tech support and they didn't have an answer. For the most part, this problem has diminished to the point of not being noticeable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small hot water tank I bought this a year ago to put under my kitchen sink. Takes to long for the water to get there from the home hot water tank. Works great! Does everything it should and has a quick recovery time. I will however buy the biggest one that will fit under the sink next time. I highly recommend.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rheem 20 gal. Electric water heater I was very disapointed to find after it had been installed that it did not have a drain cock installed. Now I have to hire a plumber to come out and install one which just adds to the already high cost of purchasing the heater. I would not recommend anyone to purchase one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect replacement for an oversized waterheater Using this six gallon water heater in series with an indirect fired hot water storage tank saves the three or so gallons of water wasted waiting for the hot water to get to the laundry machines.
