I'm replacing a 30 gal 3500 watt element on a 20amp breaker. Could breaker be ok if u put 3500 watt elements in this 1.

Asked by: Jesse
Yes the 20 amp breaker will be fine as long as you are using 3500 Watt elements. Please see attached link for recommended over current protection: http://www.rheem.com/docs/FetchDocument.aspx?ID=5182d228-9f07-4ca8-bc23-5c50dbcf3112

A new 30 gal Rheem electric water heater was installed in my home some two weeks ago. They didn't have pressure valve with them & said they would be back in couple days to install it. plenty of hot water but I am concerned about not having the pressure valve installed. Have not been able to contact the company that installed the water heater. Can I buy & install pressure valve myself?
Asked by: Ted
Yes, but the unit should have come with the Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Specific Size I bought this 40 gallon Rheem heater a couple of weeks ago. I have very liminted space for the heater, that is why I bought this specific one. (19" diameter, my old one was 17"). It works fine (although not as hot as the old one), however the container has gaps where the bottom is screwed on to the outer cover same for the top. I am concerned that the openings will collect dirt and dust. I did not discover it until it was completely installed otherwise I would have taken it back. The plumber does not think there will be a problem and recommened I tape the areas with foil tape. I think it is a manufacturer poor assembly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install I have Multiple Sclerosis so when things go wrong around the house, I sort of flip out a little bit. I am the consummate handyman and have never used anyone for any service of any kind. But as I lose mobility and energy, it has come to pass that I've had to use contractors. I only needed help getting it put into place and 15 minutes later I was installed. Very nice temperature at the factory setting as it is good and hot but you can tolerate it if you get your hands under it when doing dishes or something. Very nice, industrial looking unit. Your quality shows at least initially. Check back with me in 18 years which is how long my last Rheemglass unit lasted!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised I made this purchase about a month ago to replace a Rheem of a similar model that had been in service for at least 19 or 20 years. The house had been vacant for about 10. On visual inspection inside the old tank there was corrosion and sediment with questionable water clearity. The inspection took place when replacing both supply and hot water piping a few months earlier. My discomfort kept eating at me about the sediment until I bought the new heater. The physical size is identical, with duplicate wiring and plumbing connections. This may be the last traditional tank heater as I am hearing the manufacturs are soon making "only on demand systems or some call tank-less systems."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EFFICIENT Didn't really need a new water however mine was over 13 years old. Was just going to get a flushing and my regular plumber suggested I consider a new one before I have any problems. Heard so much about Rheem so it was my first choice. Truly happy with readily available hot water as well as its competitive pricing. My plumber added all new connectors, a shut off where it was supposed to be, a pan under unit as well as a device to detect any water leakage to place near unit. So happy I made the investment - truly have piece of mind and enjoying the efficiency and savings on electric. Diane

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great, but.... This seems well built, and love the compact size and the fact that it's he only 3800 watt 30 gallon on the market (most are 4500 watts). I have a rheem nat gas water heater in my main house, and it works great. If I was going to make one complaint - I think the temperature controls should be easier to access. I use this in my guest house/office and unless someone is staying there I keep the temp on low, and hen turn it up if I have guests. However everytime you want to adjust the temp on this you have to unscrew the two metal housings and use a screwdriver to adjust (while turning the breaker off). Kind of a pain considering a simple temp control could be used instead. Otherwise - it's a solid unit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No features. I bought this a few weeks ago and on the first day of installation I ran out of hot water. Yesterday I ran out again. Upon checking, Power was to the heater but not to the heating elements. On both occasions, I just touched the thermostat with a screwdriver and started to turn the temp up and with less than a millimeter of a turn the thermostat clicked and power came to the elements. So today I will call support and see what they do for me. Until then my review will stand unless my problem is corrected by support. If corrected I will amend my review.
