Having never installed a water heater this was a breeze. DIY saved about $500-1000. The staff in plumbing helped me through any questions I had. The toughest part in removing the old heater and putting the new one in its place. The rest is just plug and play. Whole install took about 3-4hrs with breaks. Only problem I had was that the initial start up was difficult and I couldn't get it to light. So I decided to try again the next morning and sure enough the first starting cycle it lit up and I had hot water. Not sure if it was due to air in the gas line? Last water heater lasted 27yrs I hope this one will as well.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Will Excellent water heater!
I had not planned to replace my water heater---the old heater was still working after about 20 years. But when i touched the side of the heater one day---the metal really flexed inward, so the shell of metal around the tank was almost rusted completely away--time for replacement. I went on line---checked the water heaters at Home Depot and found the one that would work for me, in price, in quality and ease of installation. The website, even told me how many were in stock, and at which store(we have two stores fairly close to my home) and in which aisle they were located. That is service! So, i went to the store the next day, an employee helped me load the heater for checkout and another helped me load it into my vehicle after the purchase. Happy customer!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dave Great product!!!!!
I purchased this as a replacement for a water heater that failed. Took about 2 hours for me to install by myself. In the past month since we installed it, we have never run out of hot water. This is even mor surprising due to the fact we have 6 adults and 2 small children in the house.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Scooter Don't forget the installation kit!
As with any water heater, dont forget your installation kit. They sell one for about 40 dollars that uses compression fittings and braided hose and a flex gas line. Also you may need some 1/2 to 3/4 adapters if you have 1/2 copper going to your old heater like I did. You could reuse your old screw in adapters but good luck getting them out. I love the even temperature the unit provides and also the capability to put you in a burn unit at the hospital if you wanna turn it up that high.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DYIR Very Good Quality Water Heater
This water heater appears to be very well constructed. The hook-ups are easy, painted finish is good, well insulated, and easy to ignite. The recover rate is also much faster than my previous water heater of a different brand.

I'm hoping that my review will meet the "quality guidelines" this time so that other people can be aware of my negative experience.
I was glad to find that Home Depot had a short water heater available because that was what was needed for the low flue height. Didn't mind waiting 30 minutes while they closed off the isle and got it off the very top shelf. Got it loaded up and down to the basement to find that there was 3 big dents in the water heater.
Probably would have worked but I had concerns with the glass liner getting cracked.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by z2014m Best Water Heater incredible deal
Just installed yesterday, Installation was straightforward and instructions comprehensive. Heater has quicker recovery and starts and stops with little variation in water temp at tap. New self diagnostic control is a great improvement over my old manually lit pilot water heater. Replaced 15 year old rheem heater that would not keep pilot lit. Paid $337 on friday and price is $429 on website today (sunday). Still an excellent price point for a rheem heater.
