Rated 5 out of 5Â by OKRed Easy, Straighforward Install & Water Heater Working Great So Far....
Our old water heater went out Saturday (no warning, just kaput -- woke up to cold water showers and wet garage floor) and on a weekend (never fails) so we had a few days of cold showers, etc. It lasted 14 years and had a 5 year warranty, so I guess it was long overdue to die. At first I was thinking we'd need a pro install and that is M-F I believe (ended up installing myself however on Mon. aftn.)....so during weekend, I went online and checked out lots of brands, Rheem came up shining in the customer reviews department. So on Monday morning I went to the Home Depot nearby and chose this one.... It was in my garage waiting for me when I got home from work (wife took free delivery) and I installed it same afternoon. I would have done this the day the old water heater died but I was thinking I'd need a pro installation at the time, not having confidence to do it myself at first. As it turned out, the whole install took about 2 hours (have done a few projects, but not an expert DIYer by any estimation) with the instructions being very detailed and straighforward (mostly involves reading the inst. thoroughly and being sure to attach all the connections properly. I had a bit of concern since I have never installed a water heater before but forged ahead and everything went fine..... it is heating away as I type. There was warm water within an hour and it was actually too hot later in the evening (temp dial was at about 3/4 of the way up to heat the first fill of water) so I turned it down 2 notches before bed ...and it was still plenty hot for showers next morning and dishwashing and one hot load of laundry. I would recommend this water heater and I will update if anything changes, but so far it is chugging away and heating great (see my post-installation pictures attached) So, bottom line, don't be afraid, just read the instructions thoroughly (very detailed) and you'll be fine. If I can do it anyone can.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Sherrie I did it myself and I'm a lady
I want all you women out there to know: I'm a lady and I installed this myself in about 2.5 hours. Watched a few videos on youtube and it's very simple as long as you don't have to make any changes to you existing pipes. Make sure to do the soap/water test and check gas connection for leaks. I had issues on how to measure for new tank and found out you measure "tank" only from bottom of tank to the top of tank...(Top to bottom of tank only). I bought this heater and had it installed within 3.5 hours of bringing it home in my SUV. Home Depot loaded it for me and once home just slid it off truck and into garage, then into laundry room. It's not that heavy. Check out youtube and watch as many videos as you can on hot water heater replacement. It's been installed now for 4 days and no leaks (gas or water) and I have nice hot water again. Home Depot wanted $400-$1000 for installation. I realized if it can be done by others "why can't I do it" and I did...That goes for most any home repairs/improvement. I saved a boat load of money doing it myself....Thank you youtube.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by BobC Works great so far.
I installed this myself about 3 days ago. So far, it seems to be working great. It does not cycle on nearly as much as my old water heater. I did swap out the cheap plastic drain valve that comes factory installed with a brass valve. If I have any problems, I will update this post, but overall it seems to be a good buy.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by MyHomeIsMyCastle it's the luck of the draw
Had a plumber install a Rheem over a Bradford white, because the Bradford white reviews were poor, more negative than positive. The contractor chose this model, opened the box, and no dents, which seems to be 90% of the complaints. My Rheem unit would not light, so the contractor called customer service, which answered, and diagnosed a faulty ignition wire. This was around 5 pm on a Monday. Customer service said the wire would be shipped Fed Ex overnight and a Rheem authorized technician in my area had 24 hours Tuesday to contact me. I was to call in the AM to get the tracking number for Fed Ex. I called the customer service and found out Fed Ex will not be picking up shipments until 2:30 pm wherever this Rheem factory was. The Rheem technician did call to schedule an appointment, but I didn't have the part. Fed Ex was great and got the part early Wednesday. The Rheem technician didn't have any appointments available Wednesday and gave me a Thursday window from 10 am to 5 pm with a 30 minute warning call. I paid the installing plumber additional and the part was installed. Kept the Rheem technician appointment just to see when they would have gotten around to me. It was 3:45 pm when I got the 30 minute call, so I would have gone 3 whole days with no hot water. In today's day and age that isn't acceptable. This model does work fine now for the 2 weeks I have had it, but I just somehow got the bad unit and it was a bit chaotic. Customer service was polite, but it is just slow to get the problem fixed.
