Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DWS7 Excellent Water Heater
I've only had mine for one week, so if I don't update, it means it is still working perfectly.
I replaced a 50 gal, 50,000 btu tank that served me well for many years.
So as this one is a 40,000 btu heating only 38 gallons with new heating technology, I would say that is is about 3x (300%) faster than my old water heater. Very impressive!
I am hoping the Honeywell controller will outlast the tank itself; the electronic controller is very easy to use compared to the old manual controller, and the thermocouple that would seem to go out at the worst of times.
So I will leave this with 5 stars and will only update if there is a problem.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VLStu Quality item and easy to install
I purchased two of the same model this year, as both water heaters in my home were 20 years old. The energy savings was noticeable the first month, AN I had more hot water volume - an unexpected benefit. It appears my old hot water heaters were filled with silt from years of use.
One thing you need to plan for, if you are replacing an existing gas water heater, is that this unit will require a 110v outlet. This isn't a big deal, but you need to know BEFORE you install it, or you will not be able to fire it up.

Heavy! Have a friend to help carry it up stairs.
Installed ok, I wish that inlet and outlet lines were not 180 degrees. It is too soon to tell if we will save money with this hot water heater.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fruitwala Not a goog quality heater - don't buy
I got this heater and had professionally installed. Within two months, heater stopped working due to gas valve failure. Since it is under warranty, I could get it fixed but very poor service from Rheem. You have to go through them and good luck with getting attention. I called 5 times and you get different answer each time. The parts are not available in Houston area so you have to rely on them. I don't know what will happen after 1 year when the warranty runs out. Poor quality product from Rheem - which I did not expect. It took them 7 days to get it fixed - very bureaucratic process in place. My previous heater lasted 16 years with no issue. I would not recommend this or any other Rheem product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pittswede DON'T BUY THIS!
Three weeks without hot water and most likely another week before resolution. The unit just doesn't work and the replacement parts Rheem sends don't resolve whatever is the problem. The factory service people (local contracted company) say they get 3-4 calls every day on this series. Rheem won't let them stock parts and will only send out one part at a time. So you are looking at 2-3 days between repair attempts. Am now waiting for yet another service call so they can call Rheem while standing in front of the unit and confirm that they can't fix it. Then they will send a replacement heater. All this, I'm thinking, explains why Home Depot is selling these at such a low price. If we ever get a functional unit, it will be a bargain and maybe even worth all the hassle, but really....

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hank Rheem customer support
I can't say anything about the quality of this product because after being installed 2 days ago it still does not work. When I called Rheem on the day of installation, I was told that a replacement part would be overnighted to me. When I called back that day to ask who would install the new part I was told that the part would arrive in 2 days rather than 1 because their installer would not be calling me to schedule the installation until the following day and the actual installation would not occur until the day after that. That meant 2 nights without hot water. However, the installer did not call until the following day which meant 3 days without hot water. When I called Rheem to complain they said they would pay for my plumber to install the part. A short time later someone from Rheem called me with a problem about my address which was their fault. When he said he would correct my record I asked him to add a comment to my record saying that I would never make the mistake of buying another Rheem product. He replied, "Very good, sir," without batting an eye. Never once did any of the customer reps I talked to offer any sort of apology or sympathetic reply to my problem. It was all done strictly by the book, no apologies needed, we've heard it all too many times before and we're just doing the minimum the job requires.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KC Raheem 38 Gal Gas with WiFi
Only had it two weeks, but it is working great. Quieter than the old one which I could hear the gas come on and the tank crackled and popped. The WiFi module was easy to install and I have used it to dial in the water temp and set it for vacation mode for a weekend trip. It started and ended the vaction mode on schedule. One time it failed to connect, but 10 other times I worked flawlessly. Today I noticed it even was working with NEST and set to eco-mode when the Nest was auto-away.
