We have had nothing but problems with this water heater. It turns off and on so we don't know if we will have hot water or not. The machine gave us a variety of codes/ none of which solved the problem. The manufacture is more than happy to send parts to you and have you fix it. However, after promising to send a tech to our house, they told us if the tech did not find a problem that the bill would be on us. The tech. never called or showed. We believe there is a problem with the heater coupler and the computer on the water heater, which will not recognize when its time to heat. We are taking it back to Home depot today....

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JRob Super Hot Water!
We've had this water heater installed for just a few weeks now, and I must admit that I paid a plumber to install it, so the installation was super easy (for me)! Seriously, though, he didn't seem to encounter any issues, but then again, he does this all the time.
As for the Super Hot Water, he had left it on setting "B" which is 2 above "Hot", which I guess is the standard setting. Holy smokes that water was hot! I had to turn it down to settings, to Hot. Now, we were upgrading from an old water heater, so improvement is to be expected, but I didn't expect that much. Now, with our faucets on full hot, even on the Normal setting, I can leave my hands in it for more than a second without getting scalded.
I'm sure this is helping us save water, since you don't have to waste so much waiting for the hot water to travel through the pipes. Out here, in California, that's a big deal to me as we are in a severe drought.
I had no idea what rating to give for value, so I picked average. However, through PG&E, this unit is eligible for a $200 rebate, which is how I picked it, and justified the over $700 price tag.
One final note: Home Depot had it on sale, or at least was advertising a lower price, just days before I bought it at $729. It was previously listed at $649. This didn't make me think "value" either. I'm hoping the price drops again soon and I can get a price adjustment, but I'm not holding my breath.
Anyway, seems great so far! I'll let you know how it's doing in 10 years. ;-)

We do not recommend purchasing any product made by rheem! We purchased this hot water heater and it did not work. We contacted the company who informed us that they would overnight the part. We waited and waited and eventually (after three different phone calls) found out that the part was unavailable! Our contractor had to reinstall our old tank while we returned this one and bought a new tank (of a different brand). The company refused to compensate us for the contractor cost. We filed a complaint with the BBB and they were unable to help. Rheem does not value its customers and we will never purchase another product that they make. We recommend you steer clear. Also- we recommend Bradford White brand- no problems at all and cheaper!

I ordered on line. Picked up first water heater several weeks later, took it home and opened the box. It was damaged. Took it back to Home depot and they ordered another one. Several weeks later I picked up the second water heater. Took it home and opened the box. Damaged tank. The box was undamaged so it must have been damaged before it was boxed and shipped. Currently deciding what I will do next. I will say the help I received from the Home Depot staff was excellent. I wish they stocked the model I need.

I bought this unit because it was the only one Home Depot sold that was above .67 and they had it in the store. I could not wait. The other unit had a hole in the bottom. I got a 100 dollar rebate and it was a little more than the basic unit. This unit will pay for itself in a few years. My other unit was 17yrs old. I hope it lasts as long and does a good job. I will rate again it I have problems. I just got in installed today. Everything went great. It was a tall unit compared to a short. So I had to change a few things. Good thing I am handy. So far so good.

18 months ago, we bought a water heater from Home Depot, paid for a professional installation, and purchased the extended warranty.
My water heater went out Sunday night (September 25th, 2016). It’s impossible to keep absolutely precise numbers, but I estimate that since then, I have:
• Chronicled 20 pages of notes.
• Made 10 phone calls per day.
• Spent 30 hours on the phone.
• Spent over 10 hours on hold.
• Talked to 6 different companies.
• Been transferred to someone else over 50 times.
• Waited 4 days for 2 sets of parts (none of which solved the problem).
• Missed 5 days of work.
• Was promised a resolution by numerous individuals.
It is now 5 days later it’s Friday, September 30, 2016 at 8:59pm and I still don’t have a water heater and probably won’t get one until Monday at the earliest. I have not gotten a shower in 5 days, I’m running out of clothes to wear, and have a full dishwasher and a sink overflowing with dirty dishes.
I have never before been the victim of such a disappointing, frustrating, infuriating customer lack-of-service experience.
I expected much better from Home Depot and its affiliates.

26 days after installation, the new heater stopped working. I read error code and looked up the failure - flammable vapor sensor or gas valve. There are no flammable vapors in my basement so I tried to re-start. Would not start. Called Reheem (Thursday late afternoon) and discovered there is an unpublished method to recover from this error code which they reluctantly provided (suggested I call contractor and they would give starting sequence to the contractor). I restarted Heater. Friday evening water again cold. Called Home Depot: they will not provide any assistance. Called Reheem right at their closing time (day time service only) and they offered to mail a new sensor to me with expected delivery of Wednesday. I said unacceptable! They said that was the best they could do but did offer to setup a local contractor to install new sensor. Sensor arrived Tuesday afternoon. I called the contractor who came within 2 hours to install.
If you have a failure, you are simply stuck without hot water. Home Depot stated they did not have parts nor would they assist in warranty work. Contractor stated that for warranty work they had to wait for mailed part and could not just come and immediately fix the heater.
My 12 year warranty means that every time I have a problem I may be without hot water for up to a week! When quizzed about the length of time without hot water, the Reheem representative considered they had done the best they can do. If that is their best, you should not gamble your hot water supply on such inept service. Home Depot provided no support what-so-ever so consider that in your purchase decisions as well.

Purchased on Sept 23 and I am already getting valve failure notices. I replaced a 20 year old unit that was working fine to go to a brand new that fails. I hope to get a plumbing contractor to my home soon and hope the warranty goes smoothly.
