Purchased this water heater which plumber installed. Three days later pilot went out. First 20 days, the pilot went out 5 times. Rheem technical was not helpful. One technician blamed the problem on improper venting. Plumber laughed and made slight adjustment. Sent pictures to second Rheem technician who said venting was fine. Next technician said gas flow to house probably poor despite the fact my gas heater was working fine. Pacific Gas and Electric came out and said gas was fine. They suggested the control valve could be bad. Rheem agreed to send out technician but, had to wait a week. Local authorized technician diagnosed "delayed combustion" and wanted to replace thermocoupler and control valve. Only received authorization to adjust thermocoupler. At end of authorized repair the pilot was on but, burner would not ignite. Parts required needed to be shipped and would delay another 2 days. Also, repair would only be done in stages, one part at a time. Frustrated with lack of hot water and the difficult Rheem process, I appealed to Home Depot who took pity on me and provided new heater. I thought buying a water heater with a 9 year warranty would provide some protection but, Home Depot is the party that helped me not, Rheem.

It has been two months since I installed this unit and it's working like it's suppose to. Before this purchase I spent some time on-line comparing water heaters and decided on this Rheem. Help from a neighbor in removing the old heater from a 20" high platform and putting this 170 lb Rheem in its place. Water lines and gas line connected and now time to fire it up. Had to follow the lighting instructions step 2 thru 6 three times before the pilot would light. Turned the temperature between A and B on the dial and had hot water in about one hour. Water temp has stayed at 135 degrees at this setting. Soldering/installing new copper line for the relief valve, this DIY'er spent approx 3 1/2 hours installing. Looking forward to many years of hot water. The heater looks nice also.

Our water heater went out, so we purchased this one, after 3 months, we no longer have hot water. Rheem reps are rude and of no help, Home Depot was helpful and returned it, we repurchased the same unit and installed it and the new one doesn't work either. We still have no hot water. Do Not Purchase this one. Now I have to search for another water heater, which reading all the reviews, leaves me without hope.

Almost on que our 10 year old water heater went out. I wanted a similiar size to the old one and this model fit the bill. Although it's the same capacity as the old one it's physically about 25% bigger than the 2004 Kenmore it replaced. (extra insulation I assume). Has a plumber install it for me since some copper pipes needed some attention. Smooth installation. I put a Cash-Acme Heatguard Tank Booster on mine. (itself a great product at Home Depot). I have a water-softenor, so I figure I'm set for hot water for a long long time.

Typical Water Heater installation. The unit worked for 2 days and then the burner would not stay lit. I called Rheem and it will take several day, even using FedEx, to receive the replacement parts. They wanted me to do the repairs and I had to insist that they send out a tech at their cost. So now I have a brand new Rheem water heater and have no hot water. I'll never buy another Rheem product.

The Rheem was recommended to me by a professional HVAC contractor and after 6 months on the job, the unit continues to work perfectly. I'm not interested in lowest installed cost. I'm interested in lowest operation cost over the life of the product and this water heater penciled out to be the best value. It's also more environmentally friendly and keeps water hotter, longer without having to "gas up."

Almost on cue, our ten year old water heater stopped working. Wanting the same specs I bought this quality Rheem product. Had a plumber do the install for me and have had zero issues ever since. Efficient and an energy saver!
