Answer:
Yes, In my case however, the pressure valve was defective. As soon as tank filled the valve started leaking water. Tried lowering water pressure and it did not make a difference. Ended up exchanging the valve from my outgoing water heater which worked great.

You will need to add the relief pipe to it per local code.
In my case, it's a copper pipe run to within a few inches of the floor.

Answer:
Yes, the problem is the distance away from water heater, it doesn't matter what type of water heater you use. The simplest answer for this is adding a recirculation pump on top of your water heater. Home depot sells them right there with the water heaters. It even has a timer to limit hours water is circulated. Works great.

Answer:
The issue you are having is because of the distance from the water heater to the faucet. Short of redesigning your plumping there is not much you can do. Try insulating the pipes. Plan you water use at the same times. Or add a small hot water heater to the faucet that is taking so long.

Answer:
There are a couple of possibilities: 1) Your hot water level is set too low, 2) Your shower/tub is a long way away from the hot water heater. the water in the pipes has lost its heat, and has to be flushed out prior to the hot water from the tank reaching you. If this is the case, the water coming from the HWH also loses some of its heat while warming the pipes before reaching your faucet.

You could put in a "local" water heater in your bathroom, but it'd take you years to recover the expense.
Simple things you can do:
-insulate the hotwater "up" pipe from your water heater
-if the hotwater pipe is accessible in any of the house, insulate it.
Don't increase your water temp. That costs more in energy, and you run the risk of scalding.

The water line from your hot water heater to your faucet in the shower or bath is probably one end of the house to the other. In other words, you some distance between your hot water heater and your bath/shower. I have the same problem in my house.

No, this unit does not need any electrical outlet. However there are Gas Heaters which need electrical outlets: one with internet connected module and one with electrically operated dampener, but this model doesn't have either.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great water heater, easy to install Installed this water heater on my own about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Took me about 5 hours to install and everything went like clock-work. It's a little tricky to get it started, once it's all installed but I called the customer service number and the woman on the phone had it running in about 5 minutes. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Water Heater I installed myself and it couldn't have been any easier. With the new pipe couplings available, it was a snap. A bit taller than the one I was replacing, but it was not a problem. The auto pilot lighting works like a charm. No having to hold a button while you stick a match to the pilot. The marvels of modern technology... LOL Talk about HOT WATER, I've had to turn it down because it is so efficient. I think I made a great choice. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great replacement water heater! Our gas water heater began leaking a week before Christmas. After looking at our options, I decided on the Rheem Performance Plus 50 Gallon 40,000 btu High Efficiency Natural Gas Water Heater. from the Home Depot. The features and quality were second to none and the ease of installation was a bonus. The electronic control at the base of the unit even provided the piezo spark lighter to ignite the pilot. It was a pleasure to get such a great product at reasonable pricing. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone needing to replace their current gas heater! I did the install myself and had my work checked by local utility. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fast internet purchase Easy install, set-up and simple push button lighting of pilot light August 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 50gal Rheem natural gas tank Purchased about 30 days ago. Finally had it installed yesterday when natural gas was hooked up to the house. (Previously had propane) We noticed a pretty good size dent on top of tank and small one on bottom, but the shipping box was clean looking. The tank after 24 hrs is giving much much hotter water plus very quiet.Gave it a 3 only because of dents. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product Home Depot completely honored the warranty fro the old heater. The new one is a good physical fit. Use the shark bite connectors and the job is easy to complete. No worries. July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Was defective had to wait a week for a replacement part. So we had no hot water for a week. The Igniter(?). The thing that lights the pilot didn't work. I was annoyed Home Depot didn't just replace it or at the minimum give us something off of it. We bought it the next day after ours broke and hired someone to install it only to find out it needed a new part. It works fine now after they sent someone on their end to fix it a week later. I know these things happen. I just think they could have handled it better. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well I have it near the lowest setting and still delivers plenty of warm water. The anode is placed at the rear, making it a bit more difficult to remove, but not impossible. July 5, 2016
