I've had this for a couple of months now and have done a few smokes on it. So far, it does a decent job at maintaining temperature and I have no complaints about the BBQ I've made in it.
It's a great unit for the price. You'd have to get something more than 2x the cost of what HD sells this one for to get anything better.
This thing is HUGE. I can smoke two full briskets in there and still have room left over.
The paint on the firebox will flake off after the first use. Pick up a wire-brush and a can of black high-temp BBQ paint when you get this. After it has cooled off, wire-brush the areas where the paint flaked and give it a couple coats of high-temp paint and you're good-to-go.

I have cooked on the BBQ Circuit for years. Now that I have retired from that it was finally time to find something for the backyard. The Farmer's Grill has not let me down. I have had this for about a month and have cooked on it at least three times a week. We have grilled steaks, pork chops, shrimp, sausages and salmon. We have smoked brisket, ribs, hams, chickens, pork loins, Cornish game hens, salmon, oysters and lamb. I found a good supplier of different woods in my area and now am experimenting with all types of flavors. This grill will not disappoint you. Make sure you cure or season it before the first use and you will enjoy it for year's to come. I think this is a great buy for beginners who want to get involved and the experienced that still like tweaking their cooking styles. I highly recommend!

I recently made the switch from an electric smoker to an offset one, and this was my choice. For the price, this is a really great smoker. The firebox is one complete unit with an oversized door to easy add new wood or charcoal. The unit breathes really well and has some pretty constant temperatures.
Some previous 1 star reviews talk about smoke leaks and paint chipping. If you have the smoke damper and firedog damper open, you shouldn't have leaks. If you do, it's a problem with the fire, not the smoker. Paint was chipping off the bottom of the firebox, where the heat was, but as one reviewer mentioned, a wire brush and some high quality fireproof paint does the trick.

My wife and I put this together in a very short amount of time the evening it arrived. I haven't had any issue with the welds as I have seen on some of the other reviews. Its a lot nicer and larger than my old Char-Broil grill/smoker combo and the medal is alot thicker than my old smoker/grill. Cooks great so far and is easy to clean after use. The only problem I found was locating a good grill cover to fit "this size" of grill (80" from handle to handle) for a decent price... what I did fine was that my ATV cover made by Classic Accessories for $29.94 from Wal-Mart works great and looks as if it was made for our new smoker/grill. Craftsmanship is by far the best I've use in this price range. I would highly recommend this grill/smoker to anyone who enjoys out door cooking.
The only thing I didn't like at first was it didn't have an easy way to clean out the burned ash's, like an ash catcher, but I solved that problem by using 3 "EZ Foil" casserole pans, 11 3/4" - 9 1/2" under the charcoal racks..... problem solved.

This grill is not stocked by the stores so I did not see it in person before I bought it. Had I been able to look it over, I would not have bought it. Very poor fit. Very poor welding. Thin steel. Bad paint. Does not seal around any of the doors.
Followed the directions for setup, break-in and seasoning. NOT MY FIRST GRILL.
The smoker grill I was replacing lasted 20 years, cost 150.00 and was made of heavier gauge steel. I figure at close to 500.00 now, this grill should be close to the old one. NOT A CHANCE!
I followed the manufacturers directions concerning not letting the hot coals touch the side of the fire box, but the paint still peels off. WHAT A REDICULOUS CAUTION FOR A GRILL!!!!
All claims must be handled though the manufacture in writing. I claim this is a hunk of metal scrap. This is as far as I am going. So if Home Depot wants to make good, THEY CAN DO THE WORK!
I saved for quite a while to buy this smoker grill and it is a total disappointment. Family gave me gift cards for the holidays to help by it. Should have saved my money and put it towards a professional smoker.
DO NOT BUY SITE UNSEEN!!!!
Saving for a new smoker now. End of rant.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by paulegator Great grill/smoker combo!!
I purchased this smoker in April and have grilled on it and used it to smoke many types of meat. I purchased this product to replace my large trailer smoker when I moved and needed a smaller pit for my new residence. For Labor Day weekend at one time I was able to smoke a 14lb brisket, two 9lb pork butts, and three racks of baby back ribs. I used lump coal and large pieces of hickory and pecan wood which maintained a temperature of 260 degrees for five hours before I had to add more wood. The Labor Day food was outstanding using the smoker and I have also grilled steak, chicken, and fajitas over the firebox that have also turned out great. I am very satisfied with my replacement to my trailer pit smoker and highly recommend.

Bought from Home Depot and this is a good smoker, not great but it can be great if you own a wire welder!! The fire box is spot welded and the sides buckle when it gets hot causing it to open letting in air and making the heat regulation a little more difficult. I fixed mine in about 15 min, but I can't understand why they didn't do this at the factory as this is the only thing keeping this smoker from being a 5 star product in the catigory of ease of operation and design. Great design but skimpy on welding. Mine was no problem to fix but I also design and build smokers and have been doing so for 30 years. I just got tired of building and needed a cheep quick smoker for now. Watch the heat closely and you will be happy with the end product.
