Customer Questions & Answers

will product stick to a flat asphalt surface

Asked by: jambo
Inside a patch or hole in the asphalt, yes. It would stick to the surface for a berm or speed bump, but it's better if it has a hole to compact down and against the walls. As a speed bump, it would probably mash down with the wheels. Hope that helps. :)

I live in a subdivision where the main road is reclaim and my driveway is asphalt. Will this work as a transition?

Asked by: Maine
I would feel comfortable using it. It will definitely adhere to both materials.

Can you seal coat over this material and if yes how long before you can place the seal coating

Asked by: Jack
Just talked to Road Rescue company rep--he said to wait 2~3 days before seal coating driveway. The patch can be coated immediately without harm, but Road Rescue sprays a light mist of water on the patch compound during mining/manufacture to keep the dust down. The moisture could affect some seal coat materials, so wait 2~3 days for the moisture to evaporate. He said the 30 days is super conservative and not really needed. Other questions, call Road Rescue at 830-278-1211.

The city just repaved the road and did not go up to my retaining wall will this work to fill in ?

Asked by: Becky
Absolutely. It won't be quite as dark as the new pavement, but I am confident that it will work and last. The more you run over it and compact it, the better. Good luck!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Insure location has edges My depressions and cracks were only 1/2 to 3/4 deep and less on edges. Product may work well as advertised with deeper edges like potholes in Road. Did not work with my lessor holes so never set up and had to remove. Don't think this meant to be a permanent fix anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good! I live in a condominium community and the driveways are in desperate need of paving but we are still getting bids and gather funds. Meanwhile in the recent rains some smaller holes have become huge hulking craters that literally swallow smaller cars' tires. In the past we have tried gravel mixed with concrete but the rain washed that out of the holes. Other asphalt repair products required a tar-like substance to be applied to the cleaned hole to make it stick better. Home Depot *doesn't carry* this neither in store nor online for some oddball reason. The store personnel looked at me like I spoke Cantonese when I asked for it and gave me run around in store looking for it. I gave up trying that. You also must square off the hole which is too much work for a repair done by a DIYer without the correct tools. So this product came up while searching Home Depot and for the price -I bought the 10- 50lb bags (500lbs) for $143.98 which is an excellent value vs the per-bag price- it filled some of the biggest craters and seems to be working. You must pack it in 1" lifts for deep holes and packing each layer before applying next one. For the two very big craters we had it took three bags a piece. I used a rake to level it each time and an 8x8 tamper to pack it. This is where things are just slightly less than perfect though; the tamper stuck to the product if the layer was too thin and lifted it back up. Not sure if the tool was at fault maybe the gloss paint was breaking down letting this stuff stick. I kept having a small layer of clumps which I had to break up and scrape off the tamper. Also, Home Depot delivery of this product needs some work with respect to informing me when it would be delivered. This is as I said a condominium community and we do not have an "office" it's just 30 residences. I was the person designated to receive this order, but I was not at home because didn't expect the delivery until the August 10th. Instead while I was out and not near home the delivery driver calls on August 5th and says he has the delivery. The email I got from Home Depot informing me the order was "on the way" came two hours AFTER the product was actually delivered. I had to call someone who was at work and luckily walking distance of only a block away to sign off on the delivery invoice or it would have had to be re-delivered and a big mess. In the future I will probably not have it delivered but have it picked up. Again I'm not sure what to do about that or if the tool was the problem.
