The 1407 Engineered Solvent Free Wood Flooring Adhesive does not provide a moisture vapor barrier. I would suggest the R1530 All-in-One Wood Flooring Adhesive which does provide a moisture vapor barrier. I hope this helps, if you should have any further questions please contact our Customer Service for Roberts products at (866) 435-8665. Thank you for choosing Roberts!

Answer:
I used the 1407 adhesive to glue 1/2 inch plywood (pine) to a 5/8 inch plywood subfloor. Then screwed down. It worked great. The adhesive stays soft, which will flex when needed. Typical construction glue gets hard as a rock. In rehabbing, I have removed lots of drywall where construction glue was used and it was completely worthless. I am very happy with the results of using the Roberts products.

Thank you for your inquiry.
The Roberts 1407 adhesive is an acrylic urethane dispersion and not a true polyurethane, allowing it to hold down lighter wood material. However, it does not have the tensile strength to hold up to real wood, which usually is heaver and thicker.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible product We bought this glue to supplement the adhesive we had bought with the hardwood flooring ( because we didn't want to buy another 5 gal. Bucket). In comparison to the other adhesive, this glue was very difficult to work with, had a MUCH shorter work time, & left several of the boards sounding hollow because it didn't bond with the flooring. We didn't have any of these issues with the other adhesive. We will NEVER use this product again! August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finally, an office chair pad that looks good ! I was tired of plastic office chair pads that scratched, attracted dust, moved around constantly on my carpet and just plain looked cheap. I also tried a bamboo chair pad but that one wasn’t ridgid enough and it fell apart in no time. In both cases the store-bought pad were always a compromise in regards to size and fit. So, I decided to design and build an office chair pad using engineered hardwood flooring. To do this I needed an easy to use flooring adhesive to bond the engineered hardwood to a ½” thick MDF backer. This gave me the weight and stiffness I wanted to make the chair roll easily and the pad stay in place. The Roberts No. 1407 adhesive troweled on easily and gave me plenty of working time. I framed the chair pad with hardwood trim for a nice, finished look. I’m proud of the finished product and my wife loves it. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best !! I bought this to lay an engineered hardwood floor onto clean chip board substrate. It trowels on easily and grabs the flooring quickly to facilitate a fast installation. Surface spills are easy to clean off with warm water on a towel. After drying, surface scums (fingerprints, hidden thin spills) clean up with mineral spirits. Since I am partial to Roberts flooring tools, I had no doubt that this product would perform well and wasn't disappointed. I marked it down only on Appearance (how do you grade adhesive on appearance?) and Value (It's pricey but worth the cost). Highly recommended for anyone who is willing to spend a little more to get the outstanding quality. February 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good glue I like this adhesive because it has a fast bond. It also is easy to clean off of tools. February 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Engineered floor install The adhesive went down easy and had good open time allowing plenty of time to lay flooring and do a few cuts. February 17, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy this stuff Great if you have an absolutely perfect condition like a lab. Had to rip up 30sq of Bruce engineered flooring due to cupping and poor curing.. its basically junk and makes a major mess. Home depot professional told me my floor must be wet, how he figured that out without a visit is beyond me, the stain in photo is what was left after we used a heat gun to get the slop off the floor. April 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product This adhesive spreads very nicely and allows just enough work-time to lay the floor in place. I used this to install a small area of parquet to integrate with some old existing parquet. Have a couple of damp rags to wipe away any glue residue on the floor, and you should be good to go! Clean up wasn't super easy, but I'd be more concerned if it was too easy. December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stuff I used this adhesive to reset some 6" x 6" tongue & groove parquet wood flooring squares that I had to pull up because water got underneath them from a cracked water pipe. It was not a pleasant experience but the adhesive was great. It was of good consistency for spreading and it dried in a short time but not to quickly so I could do a fairly big area at one time. It made an unpleasant experience easier to deal with. June 23, 2015
