Customer Questions & Answers

Would this adhesive work on boat carpet?

Asked by: Gail
I have a boat shop and have used it on about 100 boats and as long as it dry before it gets wet its fine, there is no marine grade outdoor adhesive just different grades and brands of outdoor glue, there s no difference between this and boat carpet glue. With the new marine floorings coming out you need a solvent free glue and this works great, just don't let it get wet before it has had time to dry. Anything with the words marine grade in it is going to cost a lot more but work the same.

will this adhere turf to a wall if held in place for 24hrs?

Asked by: nick
I used 6700 to adhere carpet to walls 3 or 4 years ago. It's still holding strong. Stuck immediately with no carpet slippage or sagging - I didn't do anything special to hold it in place during drying.

6700 1 Gal. Indoor/Outdoor Carpet and Artificial Turf Adhesive is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Used for artificial grass on a rooftop deck. It rained and the glue turned to sticky gloop. It did have 5 days to dry before the rain. Was a mess to try to clean up. Waste of money. Plus I had to throw out a section of expensive grass. Do not recommend for outdoor use!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete and Utter Junk Bought this stuff to lay indoor/outdoor carpet on a table for a toy train set up. Followed the directions exactly according to the bottle on the tub. Appeared to really hold the carpet down at first. I then noticed that the edges were still tacky and the carpet wasn't secure in spots.Waited the 48 hours per instructions, still not cured. Waited a total of 4 days, still super tacky and sticky. Never cured. This stuff is garbage. Doesn't cure or dry solid but just turns my table, hands, and cloths into a tacky, sticky mess. I will return to Home Depot for a refund. Not worth it. I'm so annoyed about it I'm taking the time to write a review, my first time doing so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Porch I purchased some 6'x8' remnant outdoor carpeting and Roberts 6700 from Home Depot to redo our porch. The adhesive has the consistency of toothpaste or pudding, and was easy to work with, although you should do relatively small sections as a time as it sets up somewhat fast. It's tacky even when wet, which means you should be careful with clothes and wear gloves, but otherwise this quality helps a lot. I say that because my porch project includes taking the carpet at 90* bends over the edge. Even while wet, this adhesive had the power to hold the carpet against the side and not let it pull away. I find I'm going to have to use more than quoted on the directions (I think 1gal to ~90 sq. ft) as there is old glue that is near impossible to get off, leaving the surface a bit porous... but otherwise the quoted amount should be plenty. Just my experience, I did not have the adhesive bleed through like the other reviewer. The carpet I used, while thin, did utilize a latex backing which may have been a barrier, but also I did use a 'V' cut trowl to spread it, which may have resulted in less product *to* bleed through? Either way, this stuff is very sticky and sets fast, so you surely don't need to overdo it, a little goes a long way. Easy to spread/work with, sets fast, excellent bond, 'enironmentally safe', low odor. I don't think it could perform much better in my experience.
