No, not length, just width. There are other similar but much more expensive shears that can cut length.

It has the ability to a length according to a video I saw, however, given how hard is could be to cut a width truly straight, I think it would be hard to get a good length cut. I bit the bullet and bought a table saw (129.00 ryobi from Home Depot) for the length cuts and the stairs we did. Well worth it. Borrow one if you can . . .

No. This particular cutter is made for cross cutting up to 8" wide. The cutter is able to grasp the width so as to keep it secure and straight as you bring the handle down on the material. Makes a very clean cut. I use a jigsaw or circular saw for length.

Yes. cutting length is what it is designed for. It makes the job easier by not having to get up and go outside to you saw and cleaner because there is no saw dust. You will need strength in your arms to be able to use it.

It is designed for cutting the end off at any measurement. If you need a lenght cut it is possible you would have to be creative. It cuts about a foot a a time, The flat surface that you rest the plank on is not very wide.

The product says it will cut laminate up to 12mm thick. I have 12mm thick laminate PLUS an attached pad. Will this be able to cut it or is it now too thick because of the pad?

Mavenist,
The thickness of 12mm is for the laminate thickness. You will still be able to cut the laminate and the pad since the pad doesn’t add more resistance and there is no fixed 12mm opening that will prevent you from positioning the laminated flooring on the cutter. I hope this helps! Should you have any further questions please contact Roberts Customer Service at (866) 435-8665. Thank you for Read More

You do not need to sharpen the blade. It will "cut" just fine out of the box. It really more like crushed the end, but the cut side is not seen anyway under the base board.
I guess you COULD sharpen it, but it is really not needed.

This cutter only cuts a laminate piece that is 9" wide or less but you can cut it any length you want...just remember to cut the same direction every time because you will not be able to snap another piece on the end you cut.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth the money. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for doing my floor, as the saying goes you get what you pay for. I bought the cutter would save time and dust from my chop saw. You will still need the table-saw for long cuts. I had to put all of my weight just to make one cut and it butchered the end. I would really be far better to spend more and buy a cutter that just shears the end off (Bullet Tools 13-in. EZ Shear) like this tool. I don't think you should have to struggle. Good tools and patience makes the job much better. August 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great and saved a LOT of time After reading the reviews we decided to go ahead and buy this. Rather than running up and down the stairs 1000 times this turned out to be a wonderful purchase. Yes, the cutter does make somewhat crumbly cuts, but those cuts are hidden under the side moldings so it works out just fine. Since people commented on how the board moves when you cut, we went with two people, one holding the board to stabilize it, and one cutting. It seems to work best when the one cutting is standing to put the weight down on the blade so as not to be using arm strength since it is a hard cut. This made the project much easier and our floors look great! July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the price I was skeptical until I started the job. This cutter takes a little elbow grease but saved me a lot of dust clean up and many trips to a saw. The cuts aren't pretty but were all hidden by trim. August 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor performance It is not practical to use this product. I could not cut flooring with this. It took all my strength to cut one piece and the cut was irregular. Returned it to home depot after 2 cuts. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quiet and dust free Works great, however does require muscle. Once you get the hang of it, it cuts very nicely. One or two swipes with a box cutter sometimes necessary to smooth out edge August 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It Gets The Job Done!!! It cuts okay and get the job done. It won't give you a perfect smooth nice finished cut, because of the stone blade being too wide as well as the groove where it goes through, but that's the part that you hide under walls. So, it's an okay tool that will get the job done!... August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Laminate floor cutter This cutter works great and saved me a lot of work. July 26, 2016
