It has the ability to a length according to a video I saw, however, given how hard is could be to cut a width truly straight, I think it would be hard to get a good length cut. I bit the bullet and bought a table saw (129.00 ryobi from Home Depot) for the length cuts and the stairs we did. Well worth it. Borrow one if you can . . .

Answer:
No. This particular cutter is made for cross cutting up to 8" wide. The cutter is able to grasp the width so as to keep it secure and straight as you bring the handle down on the material. Makes a very clean cut. I use a jigsaw or circular saw for length.

Yes. cutting length is what it is designed for. It makes the job easier by not having to get up and go outside to you saw and cleaner because there is no saw dust. You will need strength in your arms to be able to use it.

It is designed for cutting the end off at any measurement. If you need a lenght cut it is possible you would have to be creative. It cuts about a foot a a time, The flat surface that you rest the plank on is not very wide.

The product says it will cut laminate up to 12mm thick. I have 12mm thick laminate PLUS an attached pad. Will this be able to cut it or is it now too thick because of the pad?

Answer:
Mavenist,
The thickness of 12mm is for the laminate thickness. You will still be able to cut the laminate and the pad since the pad doesn’t add more resistance and there is no fixed 12mm opening that will prevent you from positioning the laminated flooring on the cutter. I hope this helps! Should you have any further questions please contact Roberts Customer Service at (866) 435-8665. Thank you for Read More

You do not need to sharpen the blade. It will "cut" just fine out of the box. It really more like crushed the end, but the cut side is not seen anyway under the base board.
I guess you COULD sharpen it, but it is really not needed.

This cutter only cuts a laminate piece that is 9" wide or less but you can cut it any length you want...just remember to cut the same direction every time because you will not be able to snap another piece on the end you cut.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Laminate Cutter does the job with little mess!!! This cutter made the entire install easier. I recommend getting one if you're installing laminate flooring!!! May 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Handy This tool was used to lay laminate in 2 decent sized bedrooms over 2 days. It was conveniently sized, a simple machine, light weight but yet sturdy. It does take some strength to cut since, as others have stated, it's not a blade. Just a metal plate with a blunt edge. I am a small woman and tried it and was able to make the cut. My boyfriend did the cutting for the project and didn't have a problem, but it did look like it took some effort. At the end of the second day, I was too worn out and couldn't even complete a cut with putting my weight fully on it. Even by the end of the project the BF still says he preferred it over having to go outside every time. Worth the money. March 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Very handy. Quick effective. Very little clean up. Beats running to saw every cut March 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't do it! Uses sheer force (and a lot of it) to crush the laminate - best to use a saw. Tried it one time then brought it back. March 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Aweful So I expected this thing to have a knife like blade on it but it didn't. It has a blunt quarter inch blade. It destroys the bottom of the board. March 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Laminate Cutter Works great, saves a lot of time instead of running outside to the saw and the dust the saw makes. No saw dust with this cutter, so can cut right in the room your laying the laminate! February 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for. If you have a small 1 room job this is perfect. Be sure and check the bracket that you put the piece of flooring against to make the cut. Mine was not square with the blade, and since it was welded to the base I had to put shims on it to make a square cut. This product will not make rip cuts so you will still need a saw to make those cuts. It did the job for the 1 room that I had to do, but if you are going to do a big job spend the money and get a better tool. December 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Does what it says. Strong construction. Gave 4 stars because it did not make a clean cut, but that could be user error of not sharpening blade enough. January 12, 2016
