Product Overview

For decades Rock City Gardens’ legacy of barn, billboard and birdhouse advertising has directed motorists up Lookout Mountain to “See Rock City.” In 1936, Garnet Carter gave Clark Byers a truck, some paint and a mission: to paint SEE ROCK CITY on every barn he could find. Byers built a miniature barn intending to sell it as a mailbox, but when the U.S. Postal Service wouldn’t allow this, he made it into a birdhouse instead. They were soon found outside homes and businesses nationwide, even overseas. See Rock City Birdhouses make the perfect cozy home for a wide variety of birds including the Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadee, House Sparrow and Eastern Bluebirds. It will also attract the famous Purple Martin when mounted on a pole in open areas. The official See Rock City Birdhouse is easy to assemble and will make the perfect addition to your home and garden.

  • Our See Rock City Birdhouse is both decorative and functional

Asked by: Wilkerson
The hooks are so you can hang it in a tree. Just string a piece of cord through the eyes and tie together and hang.

I bought two of these , one for the front yard and the other for the back yard. They are easy to assemble and are reasonably sturdy. I attached them to trees through the hooks provided on the top of the birdhouse. However, no bird has nested in any one of these so far. I wonder if the reason for that is that birds are used to rectangular holes left in the brick walls and these holes being round do not appeal to their instincts. Whatever the truth may be.

Repairs held but after a few weeks outside it has now broken in other areas. Birds liked house & moved in but I don't know if it will last through spring. For the nest already built sure hope so. Such a cute bird house too bad.

More plastic that previous Rock City Models but that source does now carry them anymore. However, it is easier to assemble and pieces now "lock" together to keep rain out better. I will have to wait and see how long it holds up but the previous models lasted almost 10 years.

The only improvement I would make is a note on the assembly directions about preparing the house to mount on a pole before you put it together. Nice short history about the Rock City signs is included!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from See Rock City bird house After hurricane Matthew tore the roof off previous birdhouse, we replaced it with this cute one. Probably only senior citizens remember the real barns being painted like this, but I really like it.

We moved in just after Christmas and are still building our nest. It looks to be a condo so I'm anxious to see who moves in next to us. We were looking for a warm place to spend the winter and raise our young in the spring and I think this place suits us well. My wife loves to hang out on the pegs out front and call out to her friends. I recommend this house for any fun loving birds who don't mind condo living.
