The traverse rod was very easy to install by my self, however I can easily see that it might be faster and easier if you have a helper. The quality of the rod is very very good. It is a bit flimsy but that is what the center rod hangers are for. You get three rod hangers (or is it four?) but I used only one. AND, you get many more than enough of the white plastic carrier slides than you will ever need. Be sure to remove the unused ones by flipping the white plastic lever to release them. Don't forget to close the lever. Just store them so that if any of the ones on the rod ever wear out - which could be 20 years or more - you can replace them. To get your height measurement for installing the rod, insert one of the drapery hooks into your drapes then measure the distance between the top of the hook to the bottom of the drape while it is lying on the floor. Then add one inch (to keep the drapes off of the floor). Take your tape measure and measure from the floor upwards to where ever that measurement ends up and mark it with masking tape. Then place the rod at the height where the bottom of the carrier slide hole is even with the mark that you just made and mark the wall through the screw holes on the rod end. Install one upper screw in the rod end (so that it can pivot) and use your level to help you locate the opposite rod end and mark your screw holes through opposite rod end. After you install both rod ends, you can install your center support rod hanger(s). Then you can install your tension cord pulley. All that is left is to install the drapes!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lainey Does what it's supposed to do. . . all you can ask.
This item is available only as a special order. It was easy to order online and have shipped for free to my local Home Depot. The installation was above my skill level so I hired someone to do it for me. Took him about 2 hours. The product is fine, more than adequate to hang a pleated drape for a French door or slider. The center brace is somewhat counter-intuitive; it's a channel lock. But it all works great, and that's all you can ask.
