Customer Questions & Answers

what size conduit for underground use

Asked by: oldone1942
This wire is not rated for underground use. Use THHN or Type DB. Use 1/2 or (preferably) 3/4 inch conduit with THHN.

can this be used in a buried pvc conduit under a driveway.

Asked by: skipper
I am disappointed that a Home depot associate answered this question incorrectly. Absolutely, positively, NM-B cable is NOT rated or permitted for burial in ground, either direct (without conduit) or within conduit. Use UF-B cable for direct burial in ground, or separate THWN wires for conduit buried in ground. This link may be helpful:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price for Just the Amount Needed For me, wire is one of those things I hate to end up with a lot of extra sitting around for years. I like the ability to buy just what I needed for a reasonable price. I bought 80 feet for a little more than the cost of a 50 foot prepackaged roll.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was a great deal & time saver 1st. I am a Licensed Electrican & this was all I needed, so by ordering on-line & having lead time of a week before needed. I saved lots of money overall, as time is money & gas to make a 3 hour round trip to pick up just one item. It was much cheaper to buy & ship then drive for it, at the nearest home depot or electrical supply house..
