I know you have to remove the cartridge to solder the valve and the valve is multi function. What else you need to remove from the valve to solder it?

I am interested in purchasing this Moen Align product online - however in my contractor's words and I quote him exactly "make sure valve has included integral valves which allow to adjust temp within the valve which are needed for code".
Can you please advise if this has the valve included or do I need to purchase it and if so what is the number and cost.
Do I have an option to add a hand held shower to this product and if so can anyone go with it or is there a specific one and would I also need a diverter for the flow from shower head to the hand held

I don't like the Align tub spout. If I purchased a separate tub spout, what else would I need?

I normally wouldn't respond to an email from Anyone asking me to review a product, but I'm hoping if you have an older Moen 1-handle shower valve, that my review helps you, since I went to a lot of trouble & wasted a few hundred dollars on my shower valve. My house was built in '77 and it was easy finding a valve cartridge but a handle was near impossible to find. I figured I'd have to cut a hole in the wall and replace the valve in order to get a new handle but then I got a banner ad for this handle & I figured what the heck, another 100 bucks can't hurt that bad. I was shocked when I tried the fit and it actually worked. Since the valve stem on my shower is a little shorter, I placed some cut washers on the threaded end of the screw that holds the handle on, and perfection. If you have an older valve, try this handle first & I hope you get as lucky as I did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expensive and does not look like pictures The trim kit is too expensive for what it is. It juts out way too much and I had to purchase a separate 60$ cover plate from moen to make it look ok. The screws are still visible unlike the picture. The stop tube is difficult to install as it has no give unlike the one I replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life Saver Remodeling small bathroom. Thought I had to keep my old chrome value until plumber gave me this solution instead of removing the wall and redoing the pipes. Now I have beautiful matching hardware in the shower. Saved me money. Thanks Moen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous, real brushed nickel, easy install Moen makes such quality products. I especially love the tub spout that came with my kit. very modern and matches my marble tile perfectly! I purchased a shower arm extension and mounted the shower head tall and I love it. Sadly, my Kohler shower doors are taking months to arrive but my BA will be gorgeous when it's all done. I just wish the shower wand modern kits weren't so expensive as it's a luxury I had to forego. They are very well made and in California, make it simple to conserve water. I love it and I bought all of the accessories to go along with it and they're also sturdy and REAL brushed nickel. Thanks Moen!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deceptive Photos We selected the Moen Voss line as the style setter for our master bath remodel, but once the unit was installed it did NOT look like the picture. The handle on ours sticks out 3/4 of an inch, vs. the product literature making it look more like 1/4 inch. We called Moen and were told that due to variability it can stick out as much as an inch! There is nothing in the product information that could have let us know ahead of time (note the depth dimension in the side view of t3693sp.pdf is not provided from their product specification page), so if you're going to buy this, be very aware that it may look horrible once installed because Moen has no provision for depth adjustments once the valve is roughed in. We even asked if we could get a shorter version of the 132448BN Adjustable Temperature Limit Stop (note they have a longer version available), but they stated there is nothing they can do. Poor design in that it does not provide any depth adjustment...buyer beware as it has ruined the look of the bathroom because it's the one finish that is OBVIOUSLY off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, beautiful Style fits perfectly in our modern bathroom. The set is all metal which is a huge advantage in my opinion over other similarly priced sets that included plastic parts. The shower head is great--nice design, good spray--rain style. The spout is likewise beautiful. I do agree with other reviewers that the pull up knob to divert the flow from the spout to the shower head feels fragile, and you have to hold it up for a few seconds for it to catch. The faucet itself is very nice. You adjust the water temperature and then pull out on the body of the faucet to start water flowing. This took some getting used to. Overall, we like this very much, and the styling outweighs any drawbacks so far. be sure to buy the valve or you can't use the trim set! It adds a significant cost to the purchase but is necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from integral stops are horrible the integral stop design makes no sense. It's a pressure sensitive spring loaded valve rather than a simple stop valve. Therefore it's more prone to failure. It took me months to figure out this is why my shower's not producing hot enough water. I replaced the 1225 cartridge and the balance spool at a total cost of about $75 to no avail. Finally I started playing around with the stops and was able to get hot water, but only temporarily. I'm at the point now where I'm simply going to remove the spring and washer parts, and/or try to obtain the simple cap to remove the stop valves completely.
