Answer:
Yes. I use mine to make beer in and I poor boiling water into it. There has been no warping or melting to the plastic. The beer needs to stay hot while it's in there and this cooler does a great job of that. You should think of this as a giant thermos. It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.

Personally I would not, as with any plastic the taste of the plastic could leach into your liquid.

Coolers are not designed for hot beverages and we do not recommend it. FDA approved material on interior of jugs can handle liquids up to 120 degrees based off specs.

Answer:
Hello Lala!
Thank you for your question. In doing quite a bit of research on-line about fermenting, it looks like using a water cooler should work for fermenting. It's not the typical way people do it, most people use canning jars, food safe buckets or earthenware pots.
Have a great day!
Christine

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Great value for mash tun and HLT. Exactly what i was looking for at the absolute cheapest price i could find. Really glad i purchased the 10 gallon vs. the 5 gallon. I am now able to make 10 gal. batches!! April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy lid comes off very easy I bought this cooler a few months ago and use it for work so it's on a trailer and the lid has to be bungied down or it blows off have lost 2 lids in about 3 months. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone that will be driving with it in a open trailer or the bed of a truck. Other than the lid the cooler works well September 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes a great homebrew mash tun I bought this to convert it into an insulated mash tun for homebrewing beer. The process is easy and there are several youtube videos showing you how to do it. The equipment to make the conversion is available at any homebrew shop. The only difficult part was mounting a thermometer through the very thick walls of the cooler (this is optional, by the way). I now have a great insulated mash tun with a thru-the-wall thermometer, which holds a 152F mash and only loses about 2 degrees over 1.25 hours. And I can mash 15# of grain. And it cost less than half of what one from the homebrew shop would cost. June 21, 2016
