Answer:
Holes for a padlock are on the lid and the front side panel.
Keep in mind that the hinges on the back can be opened up, so the padlock is a deterrant but not total security.

You could use an average to smaller "hoop styple" pad-lock. The lid and box itself have a 1/2" hole for a pad lock that is up front and easily accessible.

There is a hole in the top of the front piece and a hole in the front of the lid. You put a padlock through those holes and the shed cannot be opened.

Answer:
there are two hinges on the cover- they snap into place and work well. So that the cover doesn't open too wide, there are two cloth-like straps-one on each side- that are attached with two small screws to keep the cover from opening too wide; I recommend attaching the strips to the cover before assembling the unit, as the little screw holes in the cover are hard to find after assembly.

Built in hinges on the back and cover, with the hinge pins already in place. Easy to put together, sturdy when complete -- make sure you attach the straps to support the top when open.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 99 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 120 Gal. Deck box with seat We purchased this box to use in the back of a 8' pickup. We intend to insulate it so we can put groceries in it because we have a single seat cab. Also it will serve as a fishing and hunting box to keep the catch cold along with other stuff. So far it is doing exactly what we purchased it for. The only problem we have found is the lid supports are flimsy due to the support holders that comes with it. If they were made sturdier and would slide instead of bend the lid could be more secure for our use. June 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome Deck box/Bench I use these at work to store all kinds o9f things. i like that its sturdy and one can stand on top of the box. Great product for the price. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very satisfied purchase The 120 GAL. deck box works great for storage of pool supplies and equipment. This is actually my second box, I purchased the first about a year before and was well pleased with it, I decided another one would be great. It keeps the contents secure in any weather and can also be used for sitting on. June 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Could have better hinges This box serves its purpose as long as you have it up against something. Otherwise the weak "hinges" will stretch and break if the top is left fully open. August 30, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 120 Gal. Deck Box with Seat Very easy to put together, the size is perfect to store chair cushions and other deck stuff, etc., sturdy, and price was good, I will be getting more August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great outdor storage This is a great storage box for the deck. Simple to assemble. Seems sturdy, the seat is very strong, time will tell. August 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A++ This is a very sturdy Deck Box that was easy to put together. Holds 10 folding chairs plus!! July 19, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Won't hold up to Grandkids and their toys. I indicated that I wouldn't recommend it, at least not for what I use it for. It might be fine if it's just sitting on your deck holding your outside chair pads and doesn't get open and closed all the time. I have had it for several years, but it is a Frankenstein at this point. Wood hinges for the top. Wood screws are holding it together on the corners. Think of it like a Lego toy that interconnects on the corners. Time and the sun will warp the corners and they need help ( really long wood screws ). That being said, it will hold up better than the cheaper ones I have tried. September 10, 2015
