Thank you for your interest in our products. The roof of our Vertical Storage Shed is not designed for backwards installation. We recommend following the assembly instructions to ensure that your shed is stable.

is it possible to repair the dowel that holds the door in place

Asked by: ctriv
I would doubt it as the dowels are molded plastic to fit into the slot. That said, you might be able to jerry rig something with a larger bolt but I doubt that will hold. Think you might be out of luck. Sorry...

where can i get the shelves for this product

Rubbermaid 3749-AT-OLVSS 17CuFt Vertical Storage Shed
Asked by: Anonymous
Buy a couple of 3/4" x 10" x 6ft pine boards (cheapest) in the lumber section of HD, cut to length and trim the corners per instructions. This will make 2 shelves per board, 4 shelves total if you need that many. Will cost you about $15 for the boards. Finish with a coat or two of polyurethane.

Can unit be used without shelves?

I want to to store some shovels and brooms, etc. so I can't have the shelves. An employee at HD told me there is a version that doesn't have shelves but I haven't seen one on the site. can this unit be used without the shelves? Is it sturdy enough without the shelves?
Asked by: smh123
The Rubbermaid 2 ft. x 2 ft. Vertical Storage Shed will accommodate wood shelving however, it is not included nor does it need to be used.

2 ft. x 2 ft. Vertical Storage Shed is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 117.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Falling apart I'm so disappointed with this Rubbermaid product. It is bowing out on both sides so that the custom cut shelves keep falling down and all my husbands pool products fall with them. It was a waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! Just purchased this storage unit - took less than 1/2 hour to put it together (2 sets of hands needed) - since Rubbermaid does not include shelves and Home Depot does not offer them either I found someone else who sold this same unit and the shelves too. Shelves were made by this company - plywood cut to the right size. Not cheap option and I should have waited to receive the storage cabinet as in the instruction measurements for optional shelves are given - my Home Depot would have cut them for me. Please note shelves cannot be wider that 9"1/4 - However, these 4 shelves do the work for storing all what I want. Perfect storage unit for the alcove on my balcony.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I live in Southern California, so the weather here is pretty good; however for the last month, it has been very windy and rainy. This product is placed on a covered outdoor patio to store some outdoor tools. This product was initially very good for the first couple months. Once the weather worsened, the plastic started to bow and the shed did a very poor job keeping out the moisture so the contents would get wet. Several times the pieces came apart since there is nothing that fastens them together (the pieces just snap together). Additionally, the shed has no shelves (which I knew upon purchasing), but they give you directions to make shelves your self. Because the outer pieces bowed out, the shelves that I made would continuously fall down. Disappointed in the quality of this item and would not recommend.

I have put together, or owned, numerous other sheds but bought this one as it was a better size--I am now regretting the decision. The shed definitely needs two people to put together but even at that I'm not sure if you'll be able to get the tabs fully "locked" in to the ridiculous plastic slots. In spite of trying to slide in as directed, and then using a rubber mallet, etc., we could not get the tabs to fully secure. As a result, the sides do bow out slightly which will most likely cause moisture to get inside (I braced and sealed it with duct tape--we'll see how that works..). The doors come "unhinged" every time they are opened. I am now reluctant to add any type of shelves (and that just annoys me no end as well). Just a very poor design that I simply can't recommend. Look for Suncast or other brand--you'll be happier in the long run.

The only real problem I have with the product is that it shows shelves on the box but there are none inside. You have to make your own. If I could make things I would not have a need to buy the storage shed. Also the piece to use for locking is very flimsy and broke right away. If you are going to store long things like rakes, shovels and sure then this product will work for you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money I thought this would be a good solution to store photo lighting equipment outside. The equipment is not that heavy. I built the shed in about 15-20 minutes. The hinge mechanism on the doors is not a good design. The hinges float in a certain area and can easily become 'unhinged'. Once I loaded it up with the equipment, the right and left walls started bending and the hinges/hooks of the doors no longer catch the receiving area on the sides. There are all sorts of gaps in the shed as a result and it will definitely let moisture in. Anything that leans against the walls will make the walls bend. It was a waste of money and I'll probably find a new solution within the year.
