Answer:
Easy to open, but the lid only stays open if fully opened. If you don't open it all the way, the lid will fall closed.

Rubbermaid deck boxes are not designed to be used as a toy box. There is not lid support to keep the lid from coming closed.

Answer:
No door. Top opens. There is a hole in the lid and box where you could put a lock.
Realistically, if you had a lock on it, I could get in a few seconds if I wanted to. Nothing is reinforced and should be easy enough to break the plastic.
I keep a aluminum carabiner in the holes. Keeps the lid closed.

73 gal. Medium Deck Box with Seat is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Falls apart When trying to assemble this box it was obvious the base was damaged from the mold with a ripple on one end, also the pins on the side walls do not line up properly. The walls have gaps and won't stay together, Nothing lines up correctly not even the holes for the lock. I am very disappointed...You pay more for Rubbermaid products expecting higher quality, I will definitely think twice before buying your product again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Brand new, seems defective I have the same issue as other users, the display model at the store shows perfectly closed, 'water resistant' in a way. The one I bought, sealed in box, is clearly not. I bought this for my BBQ equipment, it seems like tons of critters will be getting in through the large gaps.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid I am really surprised that there are so many reviews that say it falls apart. I'm pretty sure those were put together without reading the instructions! I have had it for a few years now and it has held up perfectly. I store a BBQ and some other random stuff in there all year round. The Rubbermaid feels much more solid than other brands that have only a single wall. It has stood up to the summer sun and the winter snow. My only complaint is that the strap that keeps the lid from opening too far are a bit too short. The lid opens to about a 90 degree angle, any slight movement will cause the lid to tip back to the closed position (usually on my head). I just removed the strap and it's all good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from this product unless you're VERY handy. This item is an extreme disappointment for a Rubbermaid product. Unless you've got three hands you won't be able to assemble it alone. The predrilled holes are not symmetric and, with the box fully assembled, there are large gaps between the side panels and the front and rear panels. The assembly instructions are impenetrable, so it may take you far longer to assemble than you have bargained for. I would return it but can't stomach the thought of having to disassemble it, pack it up, and mail it back. If you are truly handy you may find this to be an acceptable product. I'm not and I didn't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I need Got this to keep charcoal and grilling accessories accessible and dry. Had it for a couple of weeks and so far so good. A 20 pound bag of charcoal fits upright without a problem. In the back where the hinge is there is a gap that critters can get in. They have to be pretty small to get in, but they can. We have a major tree frog population here and they are starting to find their way in. Not a design flaw and nothing you can do about it, but be aware that it isn't totally sealed. We have had a couple of rain storms since we put it outside and it has remained dry inside.
