Is there any clamp or flange that will permanently attach a shelf to this bracket?

Is there any clamp or flange that will permanently attach a shelf to this bracket?
Asked by: HinOH
Thanks for your interest in our products! The 8 in. Single Track Bracket does not feature any clip or part that allow you to permanently attach a shelf to it. The hook on the front simply hold the shelf in place.

Why not the same end hooks concept (function) in double tracks?

Your double tracks currently missing end hooks (single tracks have those hooks). And I would like to see you (and use) double track with end hooks similar to the single track. And if you do make those, perhaps Home Depot got to carry those.
Asked by: Petey
Thank you for your interest in our products. The Twin Track brackets are designed so the bracket can be screwed/fastened into the shelf, instead of supported by an "end hook" on the bracket. For assembly instructions, please visit our website, and click on "Assembly Instructions" listed below "Support Center". Find "Decorative Shelving - Single and Twin Track".

What is the function of the hole in the bracket. Is there supposed to be a bar to stabilize the brackets or is it just decorative?

Asked by: squint
The hole's only function is during manufacturing - it supports the part during painting and drying.

Customer Reviews

8 in. Single Track Bracket is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Screws It's a great product with one huge exception: The screw holes in the uprights and their lack of countersinking, the lack of screw specifications and the lack of screws. I have installed thousands of dollars worth of this shelving for customers. I won't recommend or install it any more because of the pain of the install. The screw holes should be the right size, and properly beveled to accept a 2 inch (for hard surface mount) or 2 1/2 inch (for over drywall mount) color matching wood screw with a Robertson head. Rubbermaid should sell them with the product at a reasonable price. Without such screws I cannot easily or properly install the product. The screws need to be countersunk to permit a full range installation of shelving brackets into the uprights. Protruding screw heads not only prevent a bracket install above the heads, but prevent the use of adjacent slots as well. #8 screws have a head that is too big. I can make them work by custom countersinking, with a metal cutting countersink bit, each and every support hole. Thanks for the inconvenience, guys. #6 screws are a little better for countersink effort but are spindly, only available in max 2 inch length and so too weak for heavy loads on the shelves. I don't know if this is a Rubbermaid problem, or a Home Depot problem, but it's a problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Instructions? Sure would be handy to have some instructions on the 4C74 Single Track Universal Hardware. Nifty looking bow ties, neato screws and some really cool sticker dots. How am I supposed to use these properly?????

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I'm With Stan! How do you use these??? I too am looking at these nifty bow-tie anchors and I challenge anyone at Rubbermaid to figure out how they are supposed to be put thru a 1/4 inch diameter hole without destroying your wallboard. I am a veteran of wall shelf systems but this one has me stumped. Using the pin or scrunching with fingers or tools. I don't get it. Better make a video of this one when you figure it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and looks great! I have installed several book shelves using this product. Rubbermaid also sells the accomodating tracks which hold the brackets. Once installed, they look great! And they are very sturdy! The hardest part of the installation is making sure they are leveled before you install them ( which wasn't problem for me at all).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Those Brackets... The tracks are pretty easy to install, though the screw holes are a bit tight. Had to buy ones slightly smaller than expected. Offers great versatility and doesn't look too horrible in the house. Seems sturdy enough (main frame/tracks.) My major problem was with the shelving brackets. They do not slide into place and instead get stuck when they are 1/4 of the way down. Tried to bend one slightly to allow room for the shelving to slide into the socket, but no go. Hammered lightly on a board, still no go. Shelves themselves are wobbly because of the bracket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makes swinging shelves I bought these to replace old bathroom shelving--exactly like it, the same product, also bought at Home Depot. However, because the product is not "standardized," because each item is NOT the same, even among the ten new ones I bought, some did not fit the single-track bracket strips they insert into (also by Rubbermaid, the ones you're supposed to buy with these), and if you do manage to get them in, they are miraculously LOOSE and cause the shelves to swing. Would you want shelves loaded with glass bottles to swing over your tile floor?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pass these by... The slots in the single track are too wide and the width of the single track bracket is too narrow so the shelves are VERY unstable and very wobbly... I had to shim the slots/brackets with cardboard in order to firm them up and even that had less than satisfying results.... Do NOT buy these!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rubbermaid Single Track System I found the hardware easy enough. If this lady can do it so can you.- With 2 people use the black punch to mark the screw holes in the rail then just drill a bigger hole for the bowtie plug, then tap them in w/ a hammer. Angry at only 6 sets with 7 holes in each rail. VERY upset that the screws don't countersink and I can't use ALL heights as brackets won't go over heads of screws. Very poor design! I had to take screws out at the bottom to accommodate shelves for my display. I would recommend for being a simple low cost display. I'm displaying a Boxed Action Figure Collection so these are working out fine. No, I would not put glass on these as the shelf can sway on the bracket. Put brackets closer together for more sturdy shelves or put in a 3rd rail is my suggestion for long shelves. Maybe an "L" bracket underneath if permanent.
