I looked at many options for a chest to meet our requirements for size, material, weather hardy, etc. I chose this one. It arrived promptly and without hassle. Then, my husband discovered the 26 pages of instructions for assembly. It took approximately 4 hours - ok, he was watching baseball while putting the chest together - to get it assembled. This task might be too complicated for some people. We like the chest, though, it looks great but would not want to repeat the experience.

Bought this one and a smaller (56gal) square one for storing all of my patio cushions and pillows. Easy to assemble; although I highly recommend you have a cordless drill motor.. We had a good rain and all stored cushions, pillows, and the inside of the deck boxes remained completely dry. Happy camper.

This appeared to be a simple storage box when I purchased it online, but it came in about 100 pieces and parts and took forever to put together. It was also not easy to stabilize and slide the sides on with one-person assembly. Be prepared to have a socket wrench, drill and/or screw driver at your disposal for assembly. The assembly guide is IKEA-like in that it's just a bunch of pictures with little to no written instruction and about 30-40 pages long. Once I finally did get it assembled, it looks nice and does hold a lot. I just thought they could make it easier to put the dang thing together, it is just a box after all!

I purchased two of these for use in my carport. They look great and are very strong. Quality construction. Not too bad to put together. The piston hinges work great.

This box appears to be very substantial and made of good quality materials. It does take an extra set of hands for holding and is not put together really quickly. I would definitely buy another one.

It took me about 2 hours to assemble but not hard and well worth the effort. This is a quality product. I placed it under the rain gutters that I knew would over flow to see if it would be water tight. It was, not a drop inside. The lid has a nice lifting mechanism and also two steel bars for added strength. No give at all when a 250 lb person sat on it. The assembly instructions were easy to follow. I've assembled a lot of toys etc. over the years but this was the best picture instructions I've come across.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Kate required professional assembly
I am a not-particularly-handy homeowner. This deck box has multiple complicated parts - an interior metal frame which has to be assembled, multiple exterior pieces which have to be fitted together and attached to each other and the frame. Nothing is pre-assembled, there are maybe fifty separate pieces plus a bag of screws in 2-3 different sizes. The minute I opened it, I could see it would require a handyman to assemble it, it was far too complicated for me. (The list of "tools needed to assemble" at the beginning of the instructions included a power drill ... and it was all downhill from there ...) I had to pay a professional handyman for 1.8 hours work to get it put together, that's how long it took him and yes, he did use the power drill to set the numerous screws. If he'd been putting the screws in by hand, it would have taken him considerably longer than 1.8 hours. I never could have done it by myself.
Now that it's together, it's as described. However, it's bulky and unattractive and I dislike it. For this, I blame myself as I didn't look more closely at teh measurements. I was thinking "bench" and expecting something in a typical bench size, but it turned out to be oversized, much larger than a typical bench. It takes up too much space on my porch and is unattractive. I dislike it, but it cost over $300 when the required professional assembly is included. I can't afford to replace it, so I'm stuck with the ugly thing.
