Rated 5 out of 5Â by Faisal Nice appearance, very functional bench/box
Unit came in a single well-packaged box, all parts were scratch free. Assembly took less than an hour with the help of drill. Use the drill at low speed/torque.
This storage box has it all what we had anticipated. Its color and design pattern seamlessly blends with our wicker furniture. The finish is really nice that one canât really tell if itâs plastic or wicker. It looks more like a bench than a storage box. The top lid jets out a little and thatâs where you hold and pull it up to open. I like the fact that Rubbermaid did not put a handle on it since that certainly wouldâve given it a storage box appearance. I am not sure what the weight limit is but I am about 200 lbs. and the lid had no trouble while I seated.
Its 93 gallons capacity has been very functional for us for storing patio furniture cushions. Cleaning and maintenance of this box couldnât be simpler; I simply pick up the hose and rinse it. Itâs not completely water proof but does a great job keeping light to medium rain out.
We love it and highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by sdgiant Great size and waterproofing
Excellent design. Interlocking pieces should keep everything dry. No wasted space, 100% usable. Metal reinforced corners and lid make it strong enough to survive. Hydraulic hinges are a nice touch.
Very nice. The wicker imprint keeps it from looks like a giant plastic box, as do the overlapping corner pieces. Color is nice, blends in with most earth tones.
Around 3 hours, 20 steps. Nothing too complicated, requires a screwdriver and wrench. Much easier if you have a ratcheting wrench and drill. Warping of smaller pieces made some steps harder than they should have been.
Very nice waterproofing. Interlocking pieces should prevent most to all rain from getting in, though it will not withstand more than a couple inches of standing water. The hydraulic hinges keep the lid from slamming shut, which is a nice touch.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by MrFixIt Large and in charge
This Rubbermaid patio storage bench is HUGE. I was initially worried that it wouldn't be large enough for the patio cushions, but upon unpacking, my fears were immediately assuaged.
Before buying, make sure to get out a tape measure and really get a good idea of how large this box really is. 46" x 29" is a much larger footprint than it seems!
For a container this size, made out of plastic, i'm quite impressed by the durability of this storage unit. The lid feels solid (even without the middle bracing), and the sides are sturdy. The hinges on this unit are PERFECT. Not too rigid, and not too loose. The lid stays exactly where you want it to be when you open it. Upon closing, it "clicks" so you know it's really closed. There's even a latch to allow a padlock for security.
It's quite light to move, and stays quite well together. Since the lid is one piece, overhangs the sides, and seals closed, the only way your items will get wet in a torrential downpour is if you put the whole box in a big hole, and water floods in from the bottom: A very unlikely scenario.
Upon opening, I was surprised by the number of pieces that were contained in the box. I expected 4 sides, a roof, and a base, but got quite a bit more. I tried guessing how it goes together, but then decided to check out the instructions instead. That's when i hit a snag. There were NO instructions! I triple checked all the packing material and indeed, the only thing that was shipped was a single sheet supplemental instructions. While this is a tremendous oversight, it was pretty easily remedied. A quick jaunt over to Rubbermaid's website, and i had the instructions printed out within a few minutes.
Once i had the instructions, i realized that i was missing yet another item: a metal bar for the lid middle support. However, this was not a critical piece, and i was still able to complete the rest of the assembly, which went pretty smoothly. There are quite a few screws on this beast, so the whole thing took me about an hour. The images and instructions in the manual could have been a bit clearer, as I did put the hinges on wrong initially.
When i finished i gave a quick call to Rubbermaid's Consumer Services Department (toll free at 888-895-2110). They apologized profusely for the missing part and said they would send out a replacement immediately. A week later, the missing bar arrived, and i installed it without issue. I am very pleased with their response.
Reading prior comments, the main complaint was that the lid severely warped in the sunlight, preventing closure. Rubbermaid addressed this issue by adding a supplemental step to install a metal support bar near the front of the lid. This presumably would stop the lid from warping. I placed my container in a partially shaded area that did get occasional sun, and waited to see what happens.
Two weeks to the day later, i closely examined the lid. Even with the additional front support bar in place, the corners have indeed warped upwards, however slightly. I only noticed because i was specifically looking for it; it was that mild. The four front "snaps" that help keep the lid closed are all still making contact, meaning that the lid is still water tight. Solution Accepted.
This well built, great looking, GIGANTIC, waterproof storage deck box is just the answer for keeping large cushions (and countless other items) protected and out of sight. A few missing items, which caused me unnecessary extra work, are the only thing preventing me from giving this product 5 stars. Rubbermaid's customer service was superb, and addressing the lid problem with an extra support bar seems to have fixed the lid warping issue.
I have no doubt that this storage box will last for many years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Susan Attractive but difficult to open because no place to grasp
This deck box took over an hour to put together by myself. It really wasnât difficult, but some parts did take a little muscle. When adding the screws to hold the corners together I would recommend placing the box on its side and apply the screws from the interior on the side against the floor. Then rotate to get each side. It really helps draw the adjoining pieces together.
I was concerned that some of the longer strips that line the top and bottom edges of the sides appeared warped. But once you add the corners, it all comes together nicely.
The top snaps down so that you know itâs secured. But the latch alignment is too snug and there's nothing to grab onto to push the container down when pulling the lid up. I may have to remove the latch portion attached to the lid or bend it some so that it slides more freely when meeting the bottom portion of the latch attached to the box.
There is a spring hinge on either side which operates great. I have no fear of the lid falling down on me when accessing the interior. Because I can feel pressure from the hinge when I open it, I think that if I do remove that clasp, the hinges will keep the lid closed securely.
The container does look nice and it's a great size to store the cushions for my patio set which includes a loveseat and chair and 3 throw pillows. The fit is a little tight, but because the cushions compress and those hinges work so well, the lid comes down nicely to protect the contents.
The box is dark so if you keep it in the sun it's going to get hot. That means using it as a bench or table may be uncomfortable and not practical.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by DoItHerselfAZ The best looking storage box ever
After initially unpacking, I anticipated the assembly was going to be complex; however, it was actually quite simple, just a little time consuming. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product and would definitely recommend it. The storage capacity is great and the durability outstanding, especially since it sustained the last couple of haboobs without a scratch :-)
