Customer Questions & Answers

Can the shed be assembled by one person?

Asked by: MikeH
Technically, yes, it's possible. Is it practical? No way. The pieces are quite large and when putting together the roof, you need one person holding on end in place while the other aligns/screws in the other side. You will likely also need a second person to push or put some weigh onto a part while you attach or screw something in, as some of them don't align very well without a little nudging.

DO I NEED TO INSTALL A WOODEN OR CEMENT BASE FIRST BEFORE I PUT TOGETHER MY SHED?

Asked by: SHEDSTALLER
Yes. Both Rubbermaid and Home Depot personnel said as much. Both cement or wood will be fine. Been said before, but the easiest ( and solid ) wood structure is 4" x 4" base with 3/4" plywood, all pressure treated. The dimensions are 84" wide, 86" deep. Home Depot will cut all your pieces to size so all you have to do is level the ground, square it up, level it off, and then screw it together. You'll need 2 pcs. 84" long, and 5 pcs 79" long for the 4 x 4's. The 84" pcs. are your front and back pieces, the 79" pcs go in between them. I used joists for the middle and two inside support pcs. The 3/4" ply gets screwed down to the frame pieces, and your done. Solid as could be, square and level.

does this unit have any air ventilation

Just worried about storing a lawn mower and gas lawn eq with not ventilation. Anyone know how this compares to suncast?
Asked by: sparks
I built 99.9% of it by myself. It wasn't bad. I needed someone to push the final triangle roof piece down while I screwed it in from the inside. I had my friend stop by for 10-15 minutes to hold it down and it was done. Hope this helps!

Big Max 7 ft. x 7 ft. Storage Shed is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 447.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from it's big and roomy for outside storage shed I read many reviews before I bought this shed. I have to admit I was going to just set it up just like it shows w/o a foundation or concrete floor. After taking it out of box, I then realized, yes like it states in some reviews, it needs to be on a solid foundation footing of some sort. So, off to the store and spent another 125.00 for framing the flooring and level the ground where it was going to be placed. Once that was done, off to put it together, like a puzzle piece. Because of building the floor 1st; putting this shed together took 2 days... long breaks in between because of the sun and heat. I was able to put all the stuff I had in our ripped up garden shed, and the best happy dance I liked was that all the unused dog kennel panels fit nicely in this shed for storing those too. Awesome. And I still have space for using for storing more stuff. Only quality rating I gave was because there is some slight warping, but overall it is solid shed. Rubbermaid customer support was super replacing a cracked window piece and quickly arrived within 2 days. Awesome!

The roof section does require a 3rd hand but for the most part you can build this bye yourself. Had the wife's help and she and I had know problems. If you flip the box upside down everything kind of a came out in order ! Love it !!!!!

My husband and I put it up in 2 days after we made a 2x4 and plywood base. It fit together really easy. The one issue was me being afraid of heights up on the ladders. We could have used more of the AA screws as when you're trying to put them in the upper braces it's real easy to loose them in the metal braces. We ended up 8 short but was able to finish the bracing up of the floor with some different ones my husband had in the garage. The doors fit perfectly. It looks just like the picture.

It took us about two evenings to assemble with two people. Everything is labeled so that you know which pieces go together and the instruction booklet is equipped with pictures. Immediately after installation, there was a big storm with torrential downpours and strong winds. The shed remained sturdy and in place and I have faith that we will have this shed for many, many years with minimal upkeep.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice addition to the property I'm not sure of some of the build times I see. Some as low as two and a half hours. I'm 78 my wife 75. Took us most of a Saturday. The base is very important. Ours is concrete about 4 inches thick and a wire mesh for strength. We did that ourselves too. The instructions were good. Some things to make things easier are an electric screwdriver with a good toque setting for plastic. A good magnetic screwdriver to start the screws in the metal beams to prevent losing them. We pre-bent the panels and the roof peak with straps and left them over night to make assembly easier. A little patience with sticky paper on the windows is needed. All in all it was a fun experience and a good end result. We like it!

Well designed, went together easily, but you will a second person for the roof. I had nobody to help but I was able to prop the roof panels with long 2x4's from the ground which was a pain. It was more work to build the base out of 2x4's and 1/2 inch plywood sheet. I've assembled sheds before and I cannot emphasize enough the necessity of having a square, level base. After building the base allow about 4 hours to assemble. If you are going to use an electric screwdriver, do NOT drive the screw passed SNUG. The shed IS plastic and although thick and tough, the plastic strips easily with a power screwdriver. The instructions are easy to follow.

We moved into our house a little over 2yrs ago and of course accumulated some yard tools and what not. I was looking for a storage shed to fit in a certain spot under my big Oak Tree in the backyard. based on sizing, this one was perfect. saw it in store and had a ton of space. perfect for what i needed. took a few days to do this. one day to build the base floor (check measurements using the instructions online) and the other to put the shed together. a minimum of two people will be required. it was not hard at all to put together, just difficult to screw and hold if you're doing it yourself. really well put shed in my opinion.
