Rated 5 out of 5Â by MrJF Sturdy, Well-Made Trash Can
When we moved to our current home 3+ years ago, a co-worker recommended spending a little more to get a trash can that wouldn't fall apart immediately. I took that advice and spent a few dollars more to get a solid, well-made unit (2, actually), and we have been very happy. The units have lasted very well with no fading, loss of strength, deformation, etc. I deliberately got cans without wheels, as I don't have direct wheeled access to the street and have found that wheeled units are often not designed to be actually picked up and carried; these do an excellent job at moving heavy stuff.

Since I have started using it the problem with animals, especially raccoons, getting into the trash has been eliminated. It is secure, solid and certainly animal resistant.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Aligor The animal stopper doesn't
I bought the supposedly "critter-proof" bin so I could store bird seed for the feeders I use in the winter. Because squirrels and raccoons like the seed too, secure storage is important.
I bought it on Saturday. Within 48 hours -- perhaps less time, because I didn't check yesterday -- there was a large hole chewed in the lid.
Not sure what kind of animals the "Animal Stopper" was tested on, but it didn't stop the ones in my back yard, and I am stuck with a useless bin.

The trash can has clasps that should lock over the handles to prevent animals from opening lids. Since I purchased this pail (approx 2 months ago) the clasps have broken off several times. They are held together by a plastic screw which falls off regularly. I paid more than I planned and felt I purchased a superior quality but have discovered it's poorly made. I would not recommend this product.
