Answer:
Charlotte is correct, Mike. Rust-Oleum Professional Grade Truck Bed Liner Kit will work on new paint, as long as all wax is removed. While applying, be careful not to apply to much coating in one area, especially on vertical surfaces, which can cause running or sagging.

Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area, are
wearing protective equipment and have read all
precautionary procedures described on MSDS and solvent
labels. Using the supplied sanding pad, sand/abrade the
entire area to be coated. Be sure to remove all wax from
the truck bed using Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover
(251475), mineral spirits, or Rust-Oleum Paint Prep Wipe
(253436). The Truck Bed Liner will not adhere to waxy
surfaces. Tape off all areas that will not be coated with
masking tape, and cover any open drain plugs and/or latch
bolts.

Answer:
Rust-Oleum Automotive Professional Truck Bed Liner Kit is only available in black at this time. A similar product is available in spray in both tan and black. However, the spray Truck Bed Coating is not as thick and designed for lighter use than the Professional Truck Bed Liner. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Automotive-15-oz-Tan-Truck-Bed-Coating-Spray-Paint-6-Pack-253438/204721422

I have an old pool table with formica siding that has worn. I have stripped the formica and sanded the glue off. I was looking to coat the wood with this product because of the look I am going for in the basement. Will this adhere to the wood well? If so, anything I need to do to prep the surface besides a rough sanding?

I'm thinking of getting this to apply to the inside (and possibly outside) of a steel 55 gallon drum I'm converting to a composter. How well will this hold up to the heat caused by decomposition and the regular rotation of the barrel with compost inside?

Answer (1)

Answer:
Rust-Oleum Professional Grade Truck Bed Liner Kit will hold up to the heat. However, the constant abrasion caused by the rotation of the compost will likely cause deterioration and peeling, as will any type of coating. This product will likely need to be reapplied more often on a composter than when applied for the intended use.
