Howdy Monkeygirl,
In order to get a strong and uniform finish, it is always a good idea to prepare a surface by cleaning and sanding before painting.
Happy painting,

Answer:
I would use these to paint an oven range. However probably best not to use on any surface that is subjected to high temperatures. Also as you are wanting to change color ensure you prepare the surface thoroughly and remove any grease or oil. For best results apply a couple coats of suitable primer first.
Need to use paint specific for high temperature areas.

There is no heat specification on the can. You will have short-term but repetitive times of high heat. Beyond that, you have a daunting task: Should you mask the areas that won't get painted? Will you be able to take the whole thing apart? The original paint is most likely an epoxy that was applied by robot sprayers on the production line, with the item then going into an oven to polymerize. Because all this is done in virtual clean room conditions, dust and dirt are minimized. This results in a tough, smooth surface. It is impossible for the individual to replicate anything approaching this. You will, most likely, be sadly disappointed. My application was to re-paint an originally gloss black rear suspension weldment.
I put it outside, and the paint came out O.K., but remember this is in an area that is not seen. It certainly wouldn't pass muster if it was on the outside. They do have a toll-free number: 1-800-481-4785.

12 oz. Gloss Black Enamel Spray Paint (Case of 6) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice! Used this on my mother's old 98' Ford Truck, just and old work truck that she wanted to spruce up. We used 4 cans of the spray paint and the Truck looks great! I would highly recommend that you get a Spray Can Applicator Cap, as the paint will spit and drip some from the push nozzle. The cap will keep your hands and fingers from getting painted, and it will keep your fingers from cramping up. Also this paint can will give off a lot of overspray so make sure that the vehicle is well away from other objects!! As far as the product it is some what glossy and goes on very smooth. The paint dries hard and is easy to clean and wax! Another quick tip: after the paint is completely dry make sure you give the vehicle a good waxing! Keeps the vehicle's color very shiny and makes it extremely easy to clean off dirt, bugs and keeps scratches to a minimum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Paint, but Good Preparation is Just as Important I had to paint a car's rear suspension weldment. After using a commercial phosphoric acid to dissolve any rust, I washed it off and made sure the piece was dry. I then hung it up, applying 2 coats of dark gray Rust-Oleum Automobile Primer first. While it was still wet, I immediately applied 4-5 coats of the Gloss Black Automobile spray paint. The result was almost as good as new. After finding that HD carries Rust-Oleum undercoating, applying that will be my next project before installing the piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gloss black spray paint Applied this over first using rust reformer spray paint to repair some rust issues to the sides of our GE stainless refrigerator which has black painted sides. Important to carry out thorough preparation as with any painting, applied two coats and repair looks as new.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked as expected This automotive paint has good coverage and is easy to use. I used it to cover up some areas on my off road vehicle where the old paint had chipped off. It wasn't an exact match but it did what was expected. For best results be sure to use denatured alcohol or some other cleaner to prep the surface prior to painting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jeep window frames I used this product to restore some jeep window frames that had some rust starting on the bottom of the frames. I sanded them down and used the primer and this spray paint. Worked good. After drying for 24 hours I put the door skins on and called the project done.
