Customer Questions & Answers

Can you use it to clean the rust out of a gas tank

Asked by: manda
Yes, our Rust-Oleum Rust Stripper may be used to dissolve rust from the inside of the gas tank. Once the rust stripper has been applied to the surface for 10 minutes, it must be thoroughly rinsed from the surface at which point the surface must be dried with a cloth to prevent rust from re-forming on the surface. Gas tanks usually require a specialty lining to coat and protect the metal from gasoline, so once the rust has been dissolved, a suitable gas tank liner should be applied.
