Answer:
Ravi, the sealer on your concrete floor will need to be removed before applying Rust-Oleum Decorative Concrete Coating. You can remove the sealer from your concrete by grinding or shot blasting.

We strongly advise against applying a clear coat over Rust-Oleum Decorative Concrete Coating. This product is not designed to allow another paint or product to adhere to its surface

Our patio is bare concrete and less than 1 year old in new condition. Can this product (2 coats) be applied directly on concrete? Is a light pressure wash enough to prep surface?

Thank you,

A primer is not necessary when applying Rust-Oleum Decorative Concrete Coating. Proper surface preparation is critical to performance. Remove any oil spots or spills and wash the floor with EpoxyShield® Heavy-Duty Degreaser or a suitable detergent or degreasing solution and rinse. Then etch the floor using Rust-Oleum® Concrete Etch. For best results when using the Concrete Etch, the concrete should be damp, but free of puddles. Mix the entire contents of the Concrete Etch granules with 2 gallons of water. Use a plastic sprinkling can to evenly distribute the Concrete Etch solution. Scrub the floor with a stiff bristle brush and make sure the floor stays wet during this process until you are ready to rinse. Continue to scrub while rinsing to ensure all contaminants are washed away. Squeegee off excessive water or puddles and allow the surface to dry completely. Completely wash, rinse, and squeegee each section before moving on to the next. When all the sections have been completed in this manner, then re-rinse and squeegee the entire floor. When the floor is dry, rub your fingers on the concrete and check for a white film. If a white dust or powder is detected, then repeat the rinsing process being sure to thoroughly scrub during the rinse. Once the concrete is free of surface residue, you are ready to begin application of the coating. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-EpoxyShield-1-qt-Cleaner-Heavy-Duty-Degreaser-214382/203417051 Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy. I was so happy with the results for about 2 months. My steps looked amazing and brand new. Then...a chip. Now, there are many chips and peels and my stairs look awful. I was initially going to stain the concrete steps and saw this product and know the quality in the "Rustoleum" name, I chose this product. Now, I can't stain the steps if I want to because this product is a covering rather than an absorbed stain. Not happy. March 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Either the product is not good or the instructions are not correct After purchasing 8 gallons of this product, at the cost of almost $50. per gallon, and all the work of putting it down. The concrete patio LOOKED FANTASTIC. Loved the color, the texture and it really dressed up the bare concrete. After a week and a half, I started noticing chips or flakes in various spots. Then it progressed into large cracks/crazing, looking like it was shrinking and pulling itself apart. Then when the lawn maintenance people used the leaf blower on the adjoining sidewalks and gardens, big chunks 6" x 12" came flying off. Home Depot has referred me to Rustoleum company. I haven't been able to tackle that just yet, but I will! This was on 2 1/2 month old concrete that had no spills on it and there had been no rain for the prior 4 days. Temperature the day I painted was 89F. November 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT PRODUCT. MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW MANUFACTURERS DIRECTIONS FOR APPLICATION. The finished product is beautiful. Inexpensive way to dress up concrete floors in your home. We have dogs and carpeting is a NO NO. Easy vacumming and clean up. The prepping and application itself is timely. When the decorative coating application was done we went one more step and applied 3 coats of concrete sealer (wet look). The floors are beautiful. When we step out of the shower with wet feet, no fear of slipping. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NO EASY PROJECT. However, well worth the the time and effort. September 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product if applied accurately I pressure washed, appied muriatic acid, neutralized with soap and water. After it dried I applied a bonding agent (this was done outside of the instructions). I then applied this product when the bonding agent was mildly tacky. By using the recommended applicator, it covered 240 sq. ft with alittle left over for touchups. June 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Front porch Quality product and easy to apply. Very little preparation with the exception of general cleaning. April 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality control I purchased 8 of these cans over about a week between 2 Home Depot stores because they didn't have enough In inventory at 1 store. Unfortunately, The colors were not consistent at all and varied between several shades so I had to buy several and mix them together to get enough of one color for the 2 small patios I was coating. It looks nice now but needed a few coats due to the color issue. I did not try to return them to Home Depot, I am sure that they would have helped me, they are always good that way. February 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great...if you like peeled coating on your patio! This is a HORRIBLE product. The recommendations are to etch, first, but doesn't say it's needed. I bought one, but it wasn't enough...so I purchased two more gallons. After spending $150 on three gallons, and using two on my back patio, it peeled BIG TIME, and pretty quickly. Check out the pics. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I started using this product about 6 months ago in my bathroom. Since then I have completed my closet and Master Bedroom. Although it is for decks, patios, walkways, pool decks, & porches... I wanted to try painting the concrete in my house. The Rustoleum Decorative Concrete coating seems to be very durable so far. The color that I chose (Sahara) really looks nice in the house. It looks kind of like beach sand and the feel on bare feet is really good. Speaking of bare feet, this stuff is not slippery at all. I have no fears getting out of the shower with wet feet. Another thing I did that is "not required" is I put the Rustoleum Concrete Sealer on top of the coating. I use the "gloss clear, wet look". It looked good without it, but I thought it may be another layer of protection. In short, I am very pleased with all the Rustoleum products I am using. And I don't work for them....I just like the way it's turning out. I also used Rustoleum Epoxy Shield Concrete Etch to prep the floor. This product also worked well. January 28, 2014
