In order to recoat the EpoxyShield coatings, you will need to clean and scuff sand the surface properly in order to get the two coatings to bond properly. Epoxy coatings cure very hard and very rigid and do not naturally allow other coatings to bond to them properly.
The first thing that we would recommend would be to clean the surface thoroughly with a good cleaner/degreaser such as our EpoxyShield Heavy Duty Degreaser. Once the floor is clean, scuff sand the surface with a 60 or 80 grit sandpaper using a drywall sander / pole sander. Once the floor has been sanded, rinse or mop off the sanding residue and allow the floor to dry completely before recoating the EpoxyShield.
NOTE: If you are applying this product over a previously painted floor you will NOT be using the cleaning and etching solution provided in the kit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed review The product was easy to apply. The only issue we saw was that there were a couple of spots that dried a different color....and they were probably 3 inch x 3 inch spots.....very strange. We did ensure we applied it very evenly. We have yet to figure out what to do with that. Not sure if putting the clear epoxy would help or not. But it looked really good wet!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. August 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Rust-Oleum Does Not Honor Satisfaction Guarantee I attempted to apply this product in my basement, since it specifically says "great for basements". My word of advice - do not use the concrete etch in your basement. You can never rinse enough to get it all off. I spent over 7 hours trying to remove it all and coud not. Rust-Oleum refused to honor their "100% satisfaction guarantee" and provide me with a refund on this product. They will not stand behind this product. August 30, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME My husband and I used this product in our garage and the floor looks very nice and clean all the time. Easy to paint and use. Drying time was quick. I would recommend this product to anyone. Clean up was not bad at all either. May 12, 2009
