Q:I am using self-leveling substrate that can be used as a wear surface one it is sealed (rapid set self-leveler). Can I use this as the sealer? Do I need to wait 28 days for self-leveler to cure (as one would normal concrete)?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help! We recommend allowing any new concrete or resurfacer fully cure prior to applying Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Basement Floor Coating.

Q:In the kit size is there one gallon or 2 gallons and are the chips tan?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to clear things up, JoAnn! Each Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Basement Floor Coating Kit contains a base and activator that creates a gallon total of coating once mixed. This is a listing for two kits, so that would be a total of 2 gallons. We do not recommend mixing all the kits together at one time, as this will shorten the pot life of the coating. And yes, the tan kit uses the tan chips!

Q:We have a pool table down stairs, can we paint around the legs, wait for it to dry, more the pool table and then do the spots where the legs were?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out! For the best finish, we do recommend applying Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Basement Floor Coating in larger sections. This product also has a pot life once mixed and should not be used after 16 hours of mixing. In ideal conditions, the coating is ready for normal foot traffic after 24 hours. Instead, you may consider doing half the floor with one pouch, letting that dry and then moving any furniture to the coated side to do the other half with a new pouch.

I prepped the floor per the instructions. Once the paint was mixed and activated, it went on easily with both brush and roller. I mixed Valspar anti-skid powder to each can (the Valspar is much more economical than the Rustoleum). I got just over 200 sqft coverage per gallon. After 24 hrs, the floor looks good and has a fine texture to it (from the Valspar additive). I rated the product at 4 stars instead of 5 since I just finished the floor so I have no way of knowing the long term durability at this time. However, my impression is that there is very good adhesion of the paint to the concrete, and I anticipate good long term durability. I will use it again.

Went down great! Time will tell if it holds up, I used on plywood floor. I used 2 cases, 4 kits. I put down a fairly thick 1st coat and allowed to dry for 8 hours. Then I put down an even heavier 2nd coat and sprinkled the specks on. For prep I rented Home Depot’s drum sander and filled as many cracks as I could then vacuumed with a shop vac really well. 24 hrs later it looks nice and no bubbles or lifting. Sure hope it last!

I've used this kit before with great results, we use it in our grooming shop which has a heavy traffic flow, with sharp cannine claws and bleach clean up. We removed the tile floor as it was easier to recoat every two years which makes the shop look refreshed.

The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because the color paint lots don't always match. I would highly recommend buying all of this paint that you will need at one time. If not, you risk having two or more different shades of paint. Other than that, the paint does go on nice and looks good with or without the decorative flakes. Last recommendation; go easy when your apply the decorative flakes. less in this case is more. It just looks better.
The photo will show the same paint purchased on two different dates.

Awesome product. My basement has never looked better. It was very easy to apply. I primed the floor with Dryloc waterproofing paint, and would recommend doing something similar. The 2 pack went on smooth and covered a full 500 sq ft.
